Sometimes I wonder to myself why such hatred, such resentment and contempt towards heroism exists on this forum. Such gleeful eagerness to destroy it.

I've wondered to myself 'Is it hatred of looking in a mirror? Hatred of your own ugliness and inadequacies and refuge in equality? Destroy that which is beautiful to not be so much lesser in comparison?'

I've been gone from these forums for a awhile now and i still remember why everyone hates you, I'll say it plain. Your kind of a Dick, condensending towards others, and you bilittle others opinions that are different from your own. It's not heroism that we hate and want to destroy, it's just your attitude and how you talk to others that pisses everyone off david and i'm surprised you didn't see this by now giving the fact on how long everyone has hated you (I don't BTW, hate is a strong word). But yeah try not being a massive jerk and maybe you'll find peace here........

I appreciate the notion of heroism, David.

I don't, however, support universal ideals of what "heroism" looks like.

By the way, this is an incredibly petty retort, David.

Very unheroic, and unbearably dishonest.  You should be ashamed of yourself.

A breakdown of David's arguments the last few pages:

People who don't support his notion of heroism are ugly.
Writer's who don't produce stories that he enjoys are dishonest.
Heroes are anti-social hermits.
Anything he hasn't read or watched is obscure.

We are dealing with an angry teenager here, folks. Nothing to be overly concerned about.

Though Reapur put it so much more eloquently than I did.

At the start of the story, it is. The hero is never popular. Never the best liked. Never a socialite.

You notice you never see characters in fiction texting each other? You never see them use social media? Never see them yammering on cell phones? They don't go on dates. They don't 'party.'

Francis Urquhart of House of Cards is popular, respected, and schmoozes at parties.

He has an affair with a woman who would be his daughter's age.

He is also extremely dishonest, cruel, and sometimes even petty.

Urquhart is absolutely ruthless in achieving his goals and has a callous disregard for human life.

Francis Underwood is actually the villain. I hear it's based on Shakespeare's Richard III or something.

Underwood is in the US adaptation, Urquhart is in the BBC series. They're based on a book about a power struggle following Margaret Thatcher's departure.

The character was influenced by Macbeth and Richard III.

Don't be foolish, Hanar. We're all ugly in comparison to Shepard. Including me. Not as strong. Not as brave. It's no insult. The necessary equivalent of people in fiction are beautiful is people in reality are ugly.

David's in college, I think (still may be a teen though). He needs to live it up. Meet all the ugly people in the real world/Drive West/get laid/get in a bar fight/etc..

But you're right on one tenet. Heroes are lonely. I wouldn't call it anti-social, since that tends to conjure images of goofy-looking people instead of Garrus and Liara.

It's an act of love.

I've only seen the American adaption, but I haven't read MacBeth or Richard III.

Shepard sounds rather boring.

Then again Mary Sues often are.

They're goofy looking too. Garrus looks like he's been wearing a corset all his life. Liara has no ears.
