The people who adore ME2 and yet see nothing wrong w/ the almost nonexistent plot (or deny that the plot wasn't important) need to realize that they liked it for the characters, and there's nothing wrong w/ that. There indeed were plenty of fine missions in that game.
The suicide mission should've been saved for ME3. Would've been more epic then and would've avoided the problem of having to deal w/ the fact that many players managed to have all their squadmates survive it.
ME2 didn't yank the rug out from underneath you. I liked it because of the characters. The individual stories had decent plots. Overall? It didn't have much of a plot. One reason was that nothing mattered. Arrival for one thing was supposed to buy us two more years according to EDI or Kenson IIRC. It only bought six months.
I agree. The Suicide Mission should have been saved for ME3. That would have solved one of the problems, and would have provided and alternative to this crap ending. But how would they have ended it?
If they had written better dialogue for ME1 than they did, I would have rated the game higher. I do have to remember the game was rated for 12 year olds, whereas ME2 and ME3 were both rated M and ME3 as far as I was concerned should have been rated T. The dialogue was dumbed down significantly in ME1. I found it painfully annoying which was one of the reasons I rated the game as low as I did.
