Did ME2 plot come out on DLC or something?

Maybe it's a secret edition Spirosz got for making the awesome Beyond Two Spirosz? :wizard:

I'm with you on the class/weapon proficiency thing. Replacing it with the weight thing wasn't the best idea. A neat idea but it ends up not being worth the trouble of experiementing with different load outs when powers are such a big deal. I end up having loads out matching to what made sense before. Soldiers have rifles, shotguns, etc. Adepts have a pistol and a smg

As I see it, the Soldier should be the only class able to use every weapon. Adepts would only be able to use pistols. Vanguards could use assault rifles, shotguns, and pistols. Sentinels would use SMG's and pistols, Engineers would use shotguns and SMG's, and Infiltrators would use Sniper Rifles, SMG's and pistols.

Well... it is fun to load up an infiltrator with a shotgun from time to time. That was actually the first MP character I had any kind of success with.

LOL @ the arguments that are going to go nowhere in this thread.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go collect more positively pointless insignias, dog tags and medallions.

Best Gameplay: ME2

Lolno

Sorry, but yes. That's how I see it.

No rolling, stiffer mobility, limited sprinting, archaic cover system, biotic nerfs. Yeah...I'll take the slightly less inferior Gears clone that is ME3 over ME2 or the biotic fest that is ME1

I don't mind the lack of rolling or somersaults. From my perspective, believe it or not, I find it more realistic without them. Same with the stiffer mobility. And the sprinting. The cover system is alright IMO. Granted, that's not a huge issue for me. I don't tend to play biotic classes in ME2, so I was never bothered by this. And I do like the idea of certain weapons being usable to certain classes. That's why I prefer ME2 to ME3's gameplay.

Uh no, Inflitrators should be able to use hsotguns too.....<_<

I thought ME3 had a good compromise. All classes can use all weapons, so an improvement over ME2, but there are obvious drawbacks to carrying a lot of weapons or heavy weapons for classes that have powers. And it still comes out better than ME1's solution, where even Soldier Shep couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at early levels.

I say this as a player whose canon Shep was a Soldier.

On a completely unrelated note, I'm liking a lot of the combat-enhancing mods I'm finding for New Vegas.

VATS for the win. :P

There's also a mod where you can sneak up and slap one of those explosive collars on someone.

I don't have that one, but there are others where people have made drastic improvements to stealth mechanics. Someone is even working on leaning above and around cover.

It's not a very good comparison, considering neither Huck Finn or the story about trains have anything to do at all with our disagreement.

It was a perfectly apt comparison. It isn't my fault that you're incapable of recognising a reductio ad absurdum when it's staring you in the face.

I acknowledge the weakness of ME2's plot, but I think it was conceptually alright, and better than ME3's.

You think that a plot that is (a) threadbare, (B) does nothing to push forward the series' overarching plot, and © makes hardly any sense is "conceptually alright" and better than ME3's? Yeah, we're done here.

Plus, I rather get agitated at the insinuation that one opinion or position, even one I may not agree with, is objectively disgarded simply because the person making the insinuation thinks that it's lame or stupid.

Boohoo

Yeah but you probably have to side with the Legion to get them. Not a fan of the Legion. Now if they had that slave trading like they did in Fallout 3, that would be different. I made some good caps that way. Brought a number of those Talon mercs into Paradise.

I haven't sided with the Legion once. I haven't gotten to their base across the river yet in either of my playthroughs, but after finding that message they left at Ranger Station Charlie... If I see crimson, it dies.

More like an improper use of a fallacy, considering that your comparison is an irrelevant conclusion (ignoratio elenchi). You're missing the point that I was making to begin with: I'm saying it's impossible to objectively qualify ME2's plot based on preference and bias, with you obviously being against it, and myself for it. It's also an inconsistent comparison, since we obviously have different criteria for how we measure the game.

I acknowledge the weakness of ME2's plot, but I think it was conceptually alright, and better than ME3's.

I don't think it's any of those things. And you've defeated your own argument by presenting my preference for ME2 as something that makes me seem moronic. An appeal to ridicule. I'm not attacking your opinion, so this really is unjustified.

Plus, I rather get agitated at the insinuation that one opinion or position, even one I may not agree with, is objectively disgarded simply because the person making the insinuation thinks that it's lame or stupid.

I take it that you think people who think differently about different subjects than you aren't worth your mental effort?

I blame Bioware for making it possible to have such disagreement, across a small series, between games only a couple of years apart. There's such a lack of consistency that people see and/or like different things when they approach Mass Effect.

That is laughable on so many levels. Most of all with the implication that something is somehow wrong with fiction that different people get different things from.

I doubt you're really laughing. You need to stop resorting to using intensifying adjectives. I told you that already. Just talk. Your point will get across either way.

As for your point. I'm not just talking about fiction. I'm talking about game mechanics/gameplay.

I never said I didn't like the fact that they tried different things in all three games(in fact, it helped keep the games interesting), Just saying they tried to attract too many different types of fans, which led to the inconsistencies.
