At the start of the story, it is. The hero is never popular. Never the best liked. Never a socialite.

You notice you never see characters in fiction texting each other? You never see them use social media? Never see them yammering on cell phones? They don't go on dates. They don't 'party.'

I'll just say that Wrex has the best daddy issue story. I'm not against or anything. It's just overdone with a lot of the characters. The first time I cured the genophage though, it really hit me when Wrex pointed to the spot where he shot his dad. It was cool seeing that whole story reach that point from the first game.

That occured? Sounds like a nice touch(he was killed in 1 in my game).

Sucks for you, Wrex was a more interesting character than Wreav. Though if you usually go for a renegade shep, I guess sabotaging the genophage with Wreav in power makes a lot more sense and is a little more satisfying.

Sabotaging with Wrex is well written too. His lines on the Citadel are heartbreaking, but well done at least. If all of ME3 was like Tuchanka and it's side missions, I'd be praising it up and down. Whether it's Wreav or Wrex or Padok or Mordin, it works in many ways.

Yeah, I saw the those vids on youtube. They were well done, but I just couldn't ever to that to Wrex.

Tatsuya, Maya, Minato and Yu are all popular and are better heroes then Shepard.

That's not how Shepard starts off though. It's a little different than the typical protagonist. That's what the origin story mechanic was for. Pre-existing noteriety. He's a mini-celebrity. He's got Conrad and Eddie Lang and Emily Wong and the bartender at the embassy and Sha'ira and random receptionists knowing who Shep is. He's got old gang members tracking him down because they saw him on the vids. Then he has Liara later on talking about finding his story on the extranet. You can call her obsessed, and she gets defensive saying "You better get use to this kind of attention"..

Says who?

In context of the ME universe -

What if you roleplayed your Shepard who could easily of done any of these things before the events of the Reapers.

Madness.

I very specifically recall Tony Stark saying word-for-word to his assistant in the first film that she's all he has.

Countless admirers and no friends.

Pepper may be his only real friend in the MCU continuity, sure. But that's not what you said. Put the goal posts down.

What part of "genius billionaire playboy philanthropist" (in the man's own words) do you not get?

Why don't you name me off a few stories that contradict me, dreamgazer? Reasonably well known ones. I have no interest in playing "Who can name the most obscure film because that means they're the most intellectual and cultured."

Bruce Wayne is a playboy and a bit of a celebrity. So is Tony Stark.

Most hero's are charismatic and good looking guys, for the most part.

Shepard is no different.

Actually, I've thought of an even better example than Tony Stark within just Marvel movies - Thor.

You might have noticed the part where he was beloved by all Asgard, had a pack of friends he did battle with, and really liked to feast.

Bruce too, yeah. He's the Trope Codifier for "Rich Idiot With No Day Job" (as his cover for being Batman, obviously).

Persona 2 Inocent Sin. Persona Enternal Punishment, Persona 3/Persona 3 portable and Persona 4. All games have those characters I mentioned(forgot to mention Minako while similar to Minato, she is still diffrent)

So come on, prove us wrong David. Because Tatsuya, Maya, Minato/Minako and Yu prove you wrong by default.

Bruce Wayne displays nothing but contempt for the lifestyle he feigns.

Indeed, heroes are charismatic and good looking. It doesn't matter. They choose not to use their traits as most people do.

If you can really break down a hero/protagonist into a formula, then I think it's time for the apocalypse. If we've already stagnated into a formula on how to tell stories after thousands of years of storytelling and civilization, then it's time for it to all end. There's no evolution with these rules.
