Just wondering. Fast heavy melee lends itself to going all Chuck Norris, and Fitness health/barrier is negligible anyway, especially on a 'guard. But in practice on Gold I rarely find myself with only one CQ enemy that needs whuppin'.

Hmm, not tried a melee vanguard yet, but on the adept pull + heavy melee is great fun on mooks.

How do you build it?

Currently:

But I'm looking to fix up a few things. (I think the melee on him is literally overkill. And I'll probably go weapon damage over power in Charge unless I can take better advantage of that 10 second window boost for CGs.)

Melee Drellguard sounds interesting.  I agree, the Drell melee is actually really good.  One of the quickest HM in the game, and (most importantly) has a very quick recovery time.  It reliably staggers just about anything and knocks down unshielded mooks.  I use it all the time on the DA to finish enemies off, knock them down, or stagger them if my weapon is empty and I don't want to waste a Cluster Grenade.

Haven't tried an all-out melee build yet, but I melee mooks every now and then. Drell HM is actually pretty good.

I usually go either Venom or Claymoar on the Drellguard so there's not much alive once I grenade then charge into a spawn, and whatever is gets the business end of whichever weapon I brought. But a melee Drellguard is fun to play; I've done it a few times (like twice) and it is a blast if you build it right.

Project runs it quite a bit and does pretty well most of the time. Others he dies A LOT. I find the Heavy melee more useful situationally and I use it quite often on all of the drell but I don't really spec for melee. A lone trooper though I'll sprint right into the face of and try to push them into their slow firing melee and knock the dog hell out of them then laugh. Usually never kills but puts them on their back for easy headshotting.

I've ran almost every melee kit in the game. Drellguard focused on it works on Gold and below but is challenging. I probably should try it again with the Venom which makes all melee builds a little easier.
