So if i purchased an item, and it has a card with a number on it to put into redeem product code, what is the point of typing in the code into your account. If its for example an N7 jacket, and you type in the redemption code, i already know i own it, so does seeing it displayed as text on my account mean anything other than its displayed on my account.

You mean for physical items from the BioWare store or something like that?
Some of those items come with a promotional ME3 MP pack, so when you redeem that product code, you'd be getting a free pack to open in the MP store for some random items for the ME3 MP.

Yes from the Bioware store, but not one of the cards i have says anything about actually getting any promotional items, just for starters ive purchased all 3 Normandy's as well as alliance fighter, i was just wondering what the purpose of the code was, whether it was just to type in to display the fact , of hey i own these items wooo hooo. or whether the codes actually do unlock anything, otherwise when i open the package and see the card i just throw it away and ignore it.

Nothing more awesome than getting an official reply to a query, i really would have liked to have known if the redemption codes actually did anything other than just show you owned something you already own, or typing it into the redemption code box was just wasting my time.
