Guys you're all wrong. I took a weekend course in Spec Ops. It was brutal, we had to play 3 games of softball in a row; and that was just the morning's melee weapons training. We then had a pub lunch that we had to order OURSELVES and were only allowed half a pint of alcoholic beverage, before getting started on orienteering training by playing hide and seek.

It was brutal but at the same time not as hard as some of you are making out. I passed with flying colours, and I'm being deployed to Tselinoyarsk next week to destroy the Shagohod. Wish me luck all.

But did they make you sit in...THE COMFY CHAIR?

Say what you will about Liara or EDI; neither of them will commit suicide over memories.

Are you saying that committing suicide makes someone a bad person or character now?

They won specifically because of thousands of previous cycles building the Crucible, of which the Protheans were a tiny part, and a cabal of Prothean scientists. Warriors like Javik did ****-all.

Are you saying that committing suicide makes someone a bad person or character now?

No. But I find it amusing to point out, given the qualities certain people extol in certain characters.

Dean_the_Young wrote...If OPSEC were the concern, I'd (privately) call you out for OPSEC- it's not like you're claiming to be military intelligence and posting your picture across the internet or anything.

That in itself is of course not a violation. No names, ranks, dates, or sensitive information of anytime has been revealed. I can say I'm MI. That's not a problem. And my images hold none of the above, so there's nothing wrong with them.

That would be a stupid security violation. I'm challenging you on how you're conducting yourself, which amounted to a 'hey here's proof I'm better than you'll ever be, neenerneener.'

I never said 'hey, I'll be better than you'll ever be.' My point was actually more to defend myself than boast. As he says, he's a science major. That's a separate field from Military Leadership. They're rather incomparable in most aspects.

Your credibility wasn't insulted, and even if it was your service history is irrelevant. You were executing an argument from authority fallacy, and boorishly at that.

An argument from authority fallacy to a guy claiming the military doesn't work in the way that it works (As we both know) from people who are authorities on the military (having both served, and with myself holding a position of authority in the military (note, I'm not using this browbeat you or anyone. I'm simply stating that I hold a position some authority as a 1st Lieutenant.)

thats not authority fallacy....are you honestly calling out every teacher youve ever had?

Every teacher that ever tried to claim they were correct because they were a teacher. Which would be the correct thing to do, because being a teacher doesn't make you always correct by default. Teachers tend to know more than students because they have higher levels of education and are generally more familiar with the subject matter, not because they are a teacher and all else follows.

some one was opening their mouth about things they dont have a clue about...some one with a clue came in and corrected them;.

Indeed, and I haven't claimed differently- it's just that the correction comes from the facts brought to bear, and not the personal identity of the one presenting those facts.

check the context. are you suggesting he go into detail here? why and for what purpose? theres a bar set and until you can get over that bar you wont wear that badge. wearing that badge is proof that they know what their talking about, if massively didnt have a clue he would not wear that badge.

SF is not "once i pass training im in for life" there is no SF tenure. you badge/trident or barret are up for grabs EVERY DAY! he could loose that at ANY TIME.

That was the "cabal of Prothean scientists" part. The warriors were still worthless in the long run.

The scientists might not even have been part of the Prothean species, as the Protheans forced the name onto all of their subject races.

How would Mary Sue and HAL commit suicide when they've been atomized by Harby?

I suppose you've just atomized the whole galaxy in that scenario, so it's indeed moot.

Uhh no since there are clearly survivors.

The Protheans didn't use them to their full potential. The real purpose of the Asari, as all good myn know, is strippers and pros.

I will give the Protheans credit in that giving the asari a nudge, however much it was (Javik's firsthand experience with the project was, of course, nil) was the species' second greatest accomplishment. Sadly, even the Protheans' combat doctrine was completely insufficient for resisting the Reapers, and Javik admits as much.

Of course, but things like that tend to happen when your entire leadership is wiped out in one go as well as the mass relays being shut down

I have a feeling the writers forgot about the mass relay shutdown effect, because some of Javik's lines, like the ones about sacrificing specific planets so others could survive, would make no sense in an environment without mass relays and their comm buoys.

Guys, I'm not SF or Special Operations. Let's not overplay my qualifications.

I'm Airborne qualified, and Air Assault qualified, but I'm not Mr. High-Speed Low-Drag Airborne Ranger. I'm not a Sniper. I'm not qualified for any tab on my left shoulder. I'm not even in a Combat Branch or MOS. I'm a Combat Support Officer (MI) with 1 Deployment for OEF as an Enlisted Collector and Analyst. I have a lot of pride for what I do, but I'm not going to say I'm Mr. Gung-Ho Full Hooah.

No, it's really not. Evolution takes a lot longer than 50000 years.
