Kelly? I support Kelly for recovery from her abduction, and returning as the ship's much needed psychologist, which was what her actual job was on the Normandy. She should not have been a romantic interest, and should have been someone whom Shepard could talk to about those stupid dreams, all the stress, etc., She should have been recruitable -- the library could have been split in two with the VS having one part available.

Why shouldn't she be a love interest?

You don't know much about clinical psychology, do you? Psychologists are not supposed to get involved with their patients. Kelly would be the ship's psychologist. This includes the Commander.

Shepard has no one... no one to talk to. Everyone dumps their problems on Shepard.

They might not be supposed to... but neither were Kaidan or Ashley.

They wren't thee to assess the mental state of the Commanding Officer, so there is no risk of bias being presented if they get together.

So, because Ash and Kaidan also acted unprofessionally, their behaviour is no longer unprofessional. Seriously, one would have more luck arguing with a brick wall than with BSN dwellers.

I didn't say it wasn't unprofessional, but the mere fact of something being unprofessional does not make it unattainable in ME.

Do you see the difference, Xil? Or just because it's Mass Effect, should we cast any semblance of professionalism aside for the sake of fan service?

I think it'd be better, if that's a major issue, for Kelly to just not take on that role. Ripping out previously existing love interests isn't cool.

Xil, most people romanced her so their fish wouldn't die. I really don't see a big deal. They just used her then went onto someone else.

EDIT: are you worried about 0.0001% of the players who were faithful to Kelly on one play through. <_<

I think showing Traynor and the VS on Horizon working on the cannons would have been a good look. She tells you she was there visiting her family when the Collectors hit, so having a few scenes of them together, then the VS saving her I think would have tied the two ends together nicely, especially since Horizon was kind of small, yet neither seem to recognize one another. It also could have shown how the VS had grown in Shepard's absence, thus mitigating the awkwardness of Liara's "____ has become more capable" line.

One of my friends is, who loved Kelly and considered her the most realistic romance in all of ME2. I don't think they should have screwed with Jacob, and I don't think they should screw with Kelly either.

Hell, I would for Kelly, if I wasn't already faithful to Liara.

Well, she's one of only three people I can romance. She's also energetic, friendly, kind, intelligent so far as I can see, and seems like she'd be very fun to be around. I might like Samantha marginally more, but having met Kelly in ME2, I'd remain faithful to her.

I was going to make a snarky remark about you having 3 and me having 2, but then remembered...we're all in this together because Kelly won't return (is she in Citadel DLC?). *sideeye at het!maleshep*

Wait, what? Also, sadly, no. A travesty.

I had assumed when you said you only had three romances for you that you are playing a femshep who romances femal characters, as such you have Liara, Kelly, and Traynor. I'm referring to the fact that as a maleshep who romances male characters, I have Kaidan and Cortez. If my assumption is wrong well, you know what the say about assuming...

Ohh. No, your assumption was right, but for some reason I thought you were talking about ME3 and ME2, and it completely confused me.

Why wasn't Zaeed and Kasumi available? Zaeed was what, only 50? He had his act together more than Jack. He was well adjusted especially for having had half his face blown off. Perfect for a renegade het femShep. "Zaeed's like you but takes checks. As long as it's not my money, we're good."

And Kasumi? Shepard might have helped her move on.

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to either, but I think it's because they're DLC.

I don't know about it being down to the fact they're DLC characters. Sebastian in DA2 was DLC but romanceable. Tallis to a certain extent as well.
It's a shame they're not though. The more the merrier.

Conrad should have been a romance option. So should Jenna or her sister, one for each sexuality (Conrad is already Shepsexual). I would have liked to have an LI who wasn't near the battle and was just someone to come home to on shore leave, Citadel DLC style.

about having someone who doesn't know combat for a life? the same thing I suppose attracts you to ME1 Liara or Kelly, or even Traynor in fact. It's a different perspecive that Shepard can explore. S/he's a military veteran who flies a starship to save the galaxy, I'm sure at some point, they'd want to talk about anything that isn't combat related. You know, Conrad's studies, or maybe one of the sisters is getting a promotion at the bar or is starting her own business.

Yes, the doctors, since we're throwing away the professionalism card. I thought Dr. Chakwas was hot, and before anyone says anything, she's in my RL age group. Too bad they gave her the shaft on dialogue. I made a gray-haired Shepard for ME3.

Then there was the Asari consort in ME1.... Shepard has needs. lol.

But Williams in ME1 was clearly a fraternization violation, which was why she was made an officer and glammed up in ME3 - to replace Miranda - but it took her out of character. Perhaps they shouldn't have made her a LI in ME1 and played it by the military rules there. It was pretty obvious Shepard was supposed to romance Liara or Kaidan.

But you guys? with Liara acting all falling over at Shepard in ME1? I can understand why some of you don't like Liara. It's the same reason I don't really like Jacob. It's the way Bioware threw Jacob at femShep. Go in ME2 as femShep and click "I just want to talk". Hale's coach told her "You're really attracted to Jacob. Make it obvious." femShep throws herself at Jacob. It was so bad I never went back after the play through to get the LI achievement other than to get the hull upgrade and loyalty mission.

But I guess they have to make it super obvious that "this is your LI" otherwise people will complain about being "ninjamanced".
