Every other weapon lacks imagination. Just point at enemy and shoot..same old same old.
Venom is the most fun weapon in the game..no other weapon even comes remotely close to it. If I don't use venom in a game, I feel bored by wave 5 or 6. 

Edit: I am not arguing here, just saying my opinion.

Shooting at the feet is not my idea of fun but I prefer a more traditional way of dealing with the enemy. It is funny you say that you get bored by wave 5 or 6 if you are not using Venom. I on the other hand feel bored if I use Venom or Scorpion for 5 or 6 waves.

While it's my favourite weapon and easiest to use for me even offhost, I can use all the weapons effectively. So for me it's not a scrub weapon, but more like my "crutch/ chill out I've got this weapon".

It's not bad - however it's not without it's shortcomings:

1. Heavy - especially if you use the omni-blade, which I almost always do.

2. Mild finger strain - not as bad as arc pistol or gps, but still.

3. Because of having it constantly charged, for me it makes it awkward to use melee/powers as it is harder to move the mouse in a relaxed way when holding down a mouse button all the time (I also have melee bound to a thumb mouse button, which doesn't flow well with charge up weapons).

4. It does become monotonous in its own way - good for a couple of matches, but I need to use something different after a while. That or take an smg with ULM to switch too if getting sick of the constant explosions.

5. Lacks finesse, makes powers almost unnecessary.


The ragdoll effect is brilliant and it works wonders on classes that don't have a cqc panic button (like the QFE). On other classes it makes up for the bland power sets they have.

It's great fun and also a great gun for a character that needs stagger and a decent amount of damage packed in one gun.

Definitely not the best gun in the game, though...

I come close to agreeing, it is phenominal but it certainly is a gun that takes some skill and practice to get the best out of it. It does have a few limitations though.

Took a little bit to really get the hang of it (as in not only shooting feet) like shooting ceilings for the clusters to drop down, shooting above heads at walls to get the clusters to bounce back, figuring out when its best to charge/shoot/shoot for a double tap or just keep firing charged shots, etc... While I truely do like the venom, I feel it really shines on some kits more so than others...

The two top kits IMHO for the venom:

BatSol for stagger venom + stagger BB + infernos melting everything while enemies just have no idea wth to do... Also allows for more batarian falcon punch and triple basebat weapon swinging melee action

QME for AoE ammo application and staggers while incin and arc lol the rest of everything in your path. Kill streaks. Kill streaks everywhere.

Venom is teh awesome!!! I agree that it is the most fun weapon in the game... And the constant stagger lets me walk around without a care in the world... Because nothing gets to shoot me.

Flying enemies never gets old... Pwning Phantoms never gets old... It's surely a top 5 weapon in the game, not from a DPS perspective, but from a utility perspective.

Well it sounds like I need to give it another try. I just took it out a couple nights ago when I finally got it to X, and I had a hard time figuring it out.
Maybe I need to watch a video, or run with one of you guys once to get it.
I've been leaning too hard on the PPR Destroyer lately anyway.
