I'd like to thank this thread for teaching me the glory of the venom drellgod. I couldn't get on with the gun at all, no matter what I tried (plus mine's only at 2), but I took a leap into the unknown and... Even if it's a learning curve and I still get downed a bit, it's the most fun character in ages.

It is a bad weapon. I'm not interested in its stagger capability against small enemies. On platinum, it does nothing against double boss spawns. You have to rely on your powers over your weapon (so you're nerfing yourself in a huge way). Good luck fighting against geth primes and preatorians on London with just a venom. I only use it on the geth infiltrator. I find the venom GI to be the most powerful build in the game. The few other builds on which the venom works involve inferno grenades, but then you'll be relying on the grenades for most of your damage.

It's just like Cyonan says, the venom is just a fancy stagger stick. There are way too many BSN hipsters using the venom shotgun and bonus charge and the arc pistol and melee asari builds. Silly stuff. I've said it before, if you're bored playing the game the right way, you should move onto another game instead of nerfing yourself.

charge, or don't charge aim at feet? 

Admittedly a bit finicky on stairs and ramps but thats more of an issue with ME3 itself.

 This. Venom is a good shotgun, but better than the Hurricane? Javelin? All the other guns? 

I think not! I will say it is better than the pirahna though.
