He wandered around, not knowing what to do. He had seen the darkness of the world, the manipulation of an powerfull source who attempted to change the world as they saw fit - and not with a very bright perspective for the people of the world.
He knew of the words spoken. Why he had heard them, he didn't know. But they resonated within him, and left him with the question what to do. He understood that changes would come. Large changes. Something in the Fade was stirring and gathering forces. Forces unlike even the mages and the Templars had seen so far.
Forces which had even gripped a part of the Templars already, if he had understood it correctly.

No way out. The path he had taken before was suddenly not there anymore. Not blocked or turned into a ravine. Just gone. He was being toyed with. He suspected that whoever he had overheard had somehow detected him in the past day, but he had no means to counter whatever that person was doing, if it even was a person.

Darkness. That's what was creeping up to him. And despair. His previous templar training tried to help him, but the aftereffects of the addiction to lyrium still left him weakened. He was sent only to check a region out for strange phenomena. Now, he was trapped alone, in a ever changing maze. His sole perspective was dehydration, hunger and madness unless he somehow found a way out.

He found water. Black water with a hint of red. Cruel humor of his perpetrator? Or an product of the ill magic which was being spun around him and around the world? It remained water, so he drank it. Bitter, yet it remained water. He wouldn't complain at this stage. He had lost count of how long he was in the maze, and found just barely enough water and food to stay alive. In case the one who was toying with him decided to end it with a fight, he couldn't even block, that tired he was.

Hope. Hope that he could get out.
He had seen sun rays in the distance. At least he thought it were sun rays. At least it was a glow of light amongst the ever-present darkness. Knowing that he might get free encouraged him.

A dead end again. The angle the light came from each time turned to be an trick, false hope. Whoever did it was infinitely cruel. He thought he had experienced a lot. This experience taught him there's no depth to malevolence. He was being toyed with and tricked at nearly every point he thinks there's hope. Now there's some more distant but stronger light. A trick again? He couldn't give up hope. He couldn't. He had an very importanted report to deliver, and he couldn't fail in that. The fate of the world rested on him.

Light, and an end. Unless it was a trick again, he'd be away from this nightmare a few days from now.

Light, and the point where he started the journey into the hellish region he didn't expect to be so cruel as it turned out to be. Yet, he was too late. For he saw what he had wanted to report of and warn for: an exist from the Fade. The Veil was pierced. No way he could stop this anymore. There's just the hope left that someone somewhere can get different groups together to stop the nightmare. He wouldn't be able to do that anymore. For he failed, no thanks due to the manipulations of the unknown source.
