Otherwise I usually have a talent for not playing games that I don't like, so this is the only one on my list.

This lol, I play only the games I'm sure I would like, and mostly I end up satisfied. The only misfire in recent times would be Beyond: Two Souls, and even that wasn't absolutely terrible, just very disappointing compared to what I had thought it'd be.

You're kidding.. right? It was so awesome (in Hack'n'Slash) I give it a 8/10. Indeed, it could have been better...

I didn't get most of the games that were publicized/declared as disappointments and failures (by reviews, fans etc.) like DA2, Duke Nukem, Empire Total War, Rome II Total War and Sim City.

I can name Heroes VI and Empire Earth III with my personal experience. Plus Civilization IV for awful AI and difficulty issues. I didn't expect much from ME3, Fallout 3 and Skyrim!

Hmmm..

I'd honestly put Skyrim in the top 10 of this gen, don't know what you are all crying about..

Biggest disappointment of this gen was ME3, no question about it.

Biggest failure? Hard to know where to start. There's DA2, the entirety of the Splinter Cell series this gen, etc.. etc.. It's hard to call out indies for "failing" as there is not much there to start with, but the big budget failures are simply terrible.

Most people who dislike Skyrim, do so because:

1. They feel it didn't live up to the hype, or simply didn't meet their own expectations. Fair enough.

2. It's not as good as other similar game(s) they played. Fair enough.

3. They're morons.

Most people fall into one of the first two. Elton John falls into category 3.

There are also a number of people who "hate" Skyrim, yet can't seem to stop talking about and playing it. Two prominent members of this forum, who I shall not name, are like that.

And yes, ME3 is the single most disappointing game of this generation, bar none. I figured it's not worth mentioning though since that dead horse has already been beaten enough.

I dislike Skyrim because it uses Oblivion's mechanics and formula and I gave the reasons as to why I hated Oblivion. I even admitted that I thought Morrowind was an alright game so I'm hardly a moron for not adhering to your fanboyism. If Bethesda produce another good RPG then I'll praise it. Since Morrowind however, they have not produced a good RPG and people are just blinded by fanboyism, misplaced loyalism (like the ones some fans had for DA2 when it first released) and by the fact that they haven't played better games.

Skyrim is enough to keep one interested for 15 + hours before they realize that the game world is pretty much empty and filled with the same problem that plagued Oblivion and Failout 3 (i.e places not worth exploring as there's no individuality within them) and that combat is a repetitive point and click feast against broken enemy AI. Add this all to a world with no consequences to your actions, a linear main quest, an anti-climax ending and tons of bugs enough to make Obsidian proud and you've got nothing more than your typical sandbox game.

http://www.escapistm...rim-is-Soulless

And not everyone likes games like this. I prefer games like Dragon Age: Origins and Dark Souls.

Perhaps some of us just really see the flaws in these games you like and don't hold onto the type of fanboyism displayed with CoD fans and who are baffled as to why such games sell better than wonderfully designed games such as Dark Souls, The Witcher 2 and Dragon Age: Origins.

Then again, CoD is one of the best selling series out there, so it explains a lot as to why Skyrim is so popular especially with all the marketing it had.

It's called opinion and I'm not alone in listing Oblivion and Fallout 3 (see the above people). In fact I'd say the people who like these games are on crack or simply haven't played the prior games in the series and are blinded by their nostalgia and/or fanboyism for a deteriorating series. (And don't use that back at me. I played the likes of Baldur's Gate and the original Fallout's only a few years ago. There's a reason why these games withstand the test of time and why the likes of Oblivion hasn't. Anyone going back to Oblivion from Skyrim hates it)

I prefer Fallout 3 and New Vegas to the earlier Fallout games(which I did still enjoy), and I still enjoy both Oblivion and Skyrim in their own ways.

but apparently my opinion is wrong or "misinformed" because it doesn't agree with your opinion.

Well it's my opinion and doesn't invalidate yours...

I was only generalizing because others here are doing the same. I was simply doing it as a response to them to show that generalizations can be used both ways. In my intial post however, I stated that all of this is simply my opinion, even the subsequent statements I've said afterwards in defense of my list (including my response to greenmoron above).

But if they have a valid reason to their argument then they are welcome to post it rather than just calling me a moron for giving a constructive reason as to why I hate Oblivion and Skyrim. That's just going to lead me to respond back with ad hominems too (because I can, as they have) which in turn leads to no where constructive.

I'll just go with most disappointing, no need for the worst games.

1. Far Cry 3- as people called it Skyrim with guns, same empty and shallow world, uninteresting main character that can't stop whining and have such a annoying voice it's ridicilous and unfocused plot.

2. Saints Row 3 and 4, not many reasons except it got boring way too fast, don't know why exactly i guess the humor.

3. Max Payne 3, Rockstar forgot everything about Max as main character, his personality was gone and replaced with some self doubting alcholic psychopath who was impossible to care about, predictable story and the super annoying family was seen in most cutscenes which are way too long and ruins the experience, good job.

4. Diablo 3, dumbed down especially leveling, f*cked up story, crap loot although getting better and always online.

5. Borderlands 1&2, extremely boring, weapons feels bad, shallow world like skyrim imo and uninteresting side quest.

6. CiV V, dumbed down but gotten a bit better with expansions but it simply isn't as fun as earlier installments.

Already said the Sims 3. Now I'm gonna say Dead Space 2. At first the game is really scary, but later is just blaaaah.

Don't know about worst, since I didn't play any of the obviously bad games.

Most disappointing is Mass Effect 3 of course, nothing else is even close to that.

Others that disappointed me in some ways were Oblivion, GTA IV (that horrid PC port) and Mass Effect 2. They were all games that didn't live up to my expections, based on the prior games. ME2 less so, as I liked the characters at least, but both combat and story were incredibly disappointing to me.

It was an on-rails shooter. You went from point A to point B, Orks spawned, you killed them, moved to point C, got a cutscene, killed Orks, moved to point D, fought a boss/horde, end of level. Lather, rinse, repeat. The final boss was disappointing, and the Chaos enemies just felt interchangeable with Orks.

I had a damn good amount of fun for the first hour or so, but after a while, it got really stale. I kept wanting to play as a lone Imperial Guardsman instead, seeing how that would be.

Too funny. You are cray. KOTOR II > KOTOR, without mods. And KOTOR II came out in February of 2005. You kind of went a little far back putting that in your list.

KOTOR II > KOTOR

You can't fix a good story with mods.
Also first Silent Hill games were epic, especially 2 & 3.

Neither did I (didn't buy it). I lost a bet, so my friend gave it to me as a form of punishment. After playing it, I realised what a bastard he actually is.

Silent Hill 4 is when the series started to decline IMHO. They shook up the formula a but too much for my liking, and some of the gameplay elements were incredibly annoying (like Walter's victims coming back to life, turning invincible, and stalking you the entire damn game. Ugh!).

Some would actually argue SH3 was the beginning of the end, but I disagree - I appreciated that it was a true sequel to the original and actually found it superior in a few ways to SH2 (the one most people champion as the best). It also had the best soundtrack of all the SH games IMHO.

That game also scared the s*** out of me, which no SH game afterward really managed to do.

I severely disliked that cult-nonsense in Silent Hill 1 & 3 and preferred Silent Hill 2's take over them both -- It was left to the imagination, whether it was the town itself or James who was James own worst enemy. It gave a greater psychological edge and a feeling of truly being alone  -- James was likeable as the kind of protagonist who seems nice enough but deep down he's no better than the crazy's he meets-- Nothing physical or logical prevents him from just doing a u-turn to literrally anywhere else, but he decides to go look for her because he's out of touch with life. It's up to the player to redeem him in what ever manner they see fit. Silent Hill 2 simply wins on every front imo. I must admit, I haven't played Silent Hill 4 yet. I still need to play it since it's Team Silent's last game. All I know is that I've heard it has the better plot out of most the games.

It's true that SH2 is a far more psychological and character-driven game, and that's what I appreciate about it the most. It raises some interesting questions about the true nature of the town as well.

Still, I just really enjoyed the original and found SH3 to be a worthy direct followup of its events.

Don't know about KOTOR but Obsidian went out and ****ed Neverwinter Nights II up by trying to make it more like Baldur's Gate (rather than NWN1) but with a bigger focus on graphics rather than technical polish. It could be a good game but I'll probably never know as there's too many bugs which make the game unplayable for me (even when fully patched) and it doesn't help that the camera is over sensitive.
