Youtube's new layout is horrible.

Who do these people hire, to make these things? I bet some so called experts thought this would be a great idea. Don't know why they just didn't keep it like it was. No reason to fix what isn't broken. Did they think people were getting bored of it or something? Why make this change at all?

Tech companies, always thinking they know what you want better than you do. First Microsoft with Windows 8 and now Google with Youtube.

To get more people to sign up for Google+. This is worse than when they were shoving down our throats the idea of using your RL name as your user handle. Frankly I fear for the future when Google eventually manages to fully privatize the internet.

If you have your own channel, Google's been on your back for months to conform to their changes. The latest thing has been, every time I try to log on, a screen pops up asking me if I want to use my YouTube login name or my real name which I foolishly gave to them at some point on another website. Every. time. I. log. on. If you're not careful, it defaults to you using your real name. You can X out of the pop-up, but then it gives you a message at the top of the screen saying "Ok, we'll switch you later." Ugh.happy_daiz wrote...
You guys must use YouTube for more than I do...which is to do a simple search. That still seems to work.
Not long ago they forced all YouTube account owners to link their accounts to a Google+ account. If you didn't have one, they created one for you. I've never been on Google+, don't intend ever to be, and this intrusion was horribly annoying. Not to rise the mods, but it reminded me of EA trying to borg you into Origin, another service I never wanted and don't intend to use.
Now they're messing with the comments as further coercion to get people to use their social network that nobody uses. At this point, YouTube is more pain than it's worth.
Basically this - I use youtube a lot - Found lots of music and I do tend to comment on a lot of videos, depending on the video itself, obviously. I also use youtube to share the music I create and I used to love checking my inbox... now I can't even do that without google+? Thanks Youoogle.

I don't know if they can actually do that, google+ is garbage, no one uses it, people prefer things like Facebook and Twitter, and while Google owns a lot of stuff, they certainly don't have a monopoly. Besides, M$ already tried to own the internet and utterly failed, eventually this will bite Google in the ass. I honestly don't use the youtube comment section, that place is a hellhole and always has been, I guess now it will get worse.

Google must be destroyed before it fully privatizes the internet.

Where was this whole "hellhole" mindset coming from in relation to the comment section? I understand trolls and depending on the videos, but a lot of it seemed pretty chills.
I'm not saying they should have changed it because of that. What I'm saying is that in a lot of videos the comments section was a cesspit, be it racism, trolling, scams, dangerous links, morons making stupid comments, fanboys, ridiculous arguments, idiotic nonsense, etc. This was present in a lot of vidoes, what I'm saying is, that I generally didn't bother with comments in Youtube because of that stuff.
However, it seems that this "new approach" is going to make this even worse. I wonder who were the designers behind this, the youtube comments section was hard enough to read through, now it is even more annoying to check through comments and these people call themselves "experts".
