Bioware stated that their two upcoming games, Dragon Age: Inqiusition and Next Mass Effect (yet to have a name) will share "core mechanics" http://www.ign.com/a...-core-mechanics
Now, I did actually write everything in the post so far without checking the source link (I only read the headline) but now, having read it, I can see there's already a bit of info on what this means.
But what do you think this implies?
Now that we have seen DA:II (speculations regarding NextME)...

Same engine, frostbite.
Better core of the engine - more fleshed out the mechanics and graphics of the game can be.
ME3 already looked outdated when it came out (those... blurry textures).
New engine might mean new mechanics of entire gameplay.
Until we see first gameplay of the new ME, we can only expect things to get "new-gen".

But my point was rather, (**** forgot to mention this in my first) that, since we've SEEN DA:I, do you think we can expect NextME to look or feel similar. We've seen some of the primary mechanics in DA:I, like the overall flow of moving around and the dodging and stuff. I was just wondering if it meant that some of those things would feel similar in the next game or if that isn't what is implied by "core mechanics"

I see what you mean. But I don't think you should expect it to be the same thing. The games are built on the same engine. That means what you see visually in the new DA is prolly the same bar set for ME gfx and performance wise. Building a UI for the game can be done in so many ways, the way the chars move and such, is animated differently I'd reckon, I think core mechanics are pretty much just saying that you will get the same "system" in place under the hood. I don't think the games will play the same at all or you will see much "rehashed" DA content or mechanics. The dialogs, if any could for instance be used. Slap another UI on em and you have a good system working, but the core already made.
Actually that's a good example of what I think "core" means.. They'll use what they can and create the rest themselves. But as I said I don't expect BioWare to just reuse gameplay and such.

There's a lot of potential for a next gen game, like larger scenes, more NPC variation (maybe face-morph for aliens/MP-characters?), enemy variations and more animations. PS4/XBOne has 20-28 times more memory at the game's disposal than their predecessors where they had to scrape by with 256MB.
As for the engine, I think Frostbite is made to be versatile, so it doesn't really dictate how the game feels, only how it's handled on the lower layers (managing data, input, rendering, etc...)
