Do you have a quote on that?
Dragon Age: Inquisition is being developed on the same engine, to be released in 2014, and as far as we're told, it'll be on 360/PS3 along with XB1/PS4.
If you have a quote, then nevermind - but as far as I know, ME4 could very well end up Bioware's last 360/PS3 game, but a 360/PS3 (cross-gen) game nonetheless.
Consider how much we know about DA I and it's coming out in a year. We literally do not know a single thing about ME4 except that it will be in the ME universe.
It's at least two years away. Two years from the next gen release. It doesn't follow in any way whatsoever that there would be an "old-gen" release.
Where are you getting this info from? ME2 and ME3 had 2 years between them total. That could put the next release as soon as the 1st quarter of 2014.
It would make alot of sense to put it out for the xbox 360 and PS3 for financial reasons. Not everyone is going to jump on the next gen consoles ( especially the Xbox One with all the negative reviews going around ).

That's a good question. I have no idea what the Xbox One's controller looks like.
Hmm. Let me look.
Pretty awesome, actually. Like an ergonomic hybrid of the original and 360 controllers.
Shame about the system it's attached to, though.
It's still no Dreamcast controller
Damn......talk about the good ol days...........

If it was a Q1 2014 release they would have hyped the game a lot more then what we have seen by now, i don't think we will see it until 2015 at its earliest. Compare the info we have on DA:I, a game set for Q3/Q4 2014 to what we have on ME4 as an example.KwangtungTiger wrote...

Also, making speculations when the game when will come based upon the previous titles timespans is stupid for obvious reasons, such things can change and is not set in stone.

Of course, Im not stating that it will be out by then just that it could have given the previous ME.
Also, the DA team is an entirely different team with different goals. Basing it off their time frame is pretty "stupid" to.

Just something about those jumpsuits seemed much more... "in-universe" and plausible than where the style went in ME2 and ME3, when Shepard's appearance became much more iconic and space-armour-y. I liked the implication that people in this setting didn't always wear huge bulky armour plates everywhere, and that biotics or infiltrators could get by wearing lighter stuff.
Plus it'd be nice if we could customise the protagonist's and allies' appearances more in general, similar to what DAI is doing.

I really hope we can select which species our character is. I also really hope we can customize the individual components of our squadmates armor. Like shoulders, torso, legs. However, the Turians will have different options than the humans, and the Krogans will have different armor options than them, and so on and so forth.ElitePinecone wrote...

Not everyone lives in places where good and stable connections is available 100% of the time when people could want to play. Secondly, how does others being able to use their console without internet conncection make your experience worse? Your gonna need to expand on that a bit other then just claiming its "rampant mob mentality".

DAI is overcoming the issue of everyone looking the same in armour sets by having the armour pieces morph and adjust depending on which companion is wearing them - the same component looks slightly different on each person based on their "style" and shape. They could definitely use the same system in ME, although armour in Mass Effect has always been much more standardised than Dragon Age (since they can go crazy with the fantasy setting and put spikes everywhere).
Exploration, player agency and customisation seem to be the broad game features that Bioware as a company are pushing in their next-gen titles, which all sound great to me.

first, I should say that this whole "quote pyramid" began when I specifically asked the user what "bad reviews" he was referring to (which I still haven't seen, by the way). The response I got was a link to a lone individual sounding off on fans. Fans that were complaining about the fact that the system would always be connected to the Internet.....and they're using the Internet to complain. If you can't see the problem there, then Idk how else to explain it to you. They obviously have a good enough connection to hop on the internet to ****** and moan.rashie wrote...

The first post I quoted referenced "Bad Reviews", however, there are no reviews. The embargo doesnt lift until the 12th or something like that. All there is, is the backlash pertaining to the Always Online feature, which is now gone.
It doesn't make my experience "worse" per se. But it absolutely holds it back. Microsoft was trying to move the industry forward (in fact, the place they were going, is exactly where gaming is headed. They just wanted to be the first to do it on a console).
Having a 24/7 connection allows for persistent and evolving worlds that change, instead of the same static environment every single time you walk down that street, or through those woods, or into that dungeon.....it will be exactly the same. With an always online connection you might walk down that same street or through those same woods, but there might be a crater in the street, or that giant tree you were admiring the other day has fallen and is now blocking your path. Point is, you can sign off for the night, come back the next day and be wondering wtf happened in the time you were gone.
Now, I'm sure certain games and developers will still be able to do that. But they will have to be Always Online. Had the entire system still had that feature, it would've became an industry standard sooner rather than later. It still will ofcourse, but now it'll be further in the future.

Take numbers with tiny grain of salt as the statistics is from december 2012.
Those not having fiber connections available or in use is DSL connections going by telephone lines and below with varying quality, with some places out in the woods having to resort to sitting on 3g mobile modems and similar as an example with my own country.

That sounds very much like randomly generated environments you find in certain older titles: Diablo 1 and 2, Age of Empires 1 through 3 to name a few.
And those did not require permanent online-connection to make that work. And whether a 'persistent online world' is all that desirable is also questionable. Not everyone likes MMOs, after all, which try to go that direction.

They did say that they're using DA:I to lay the foundation for their next gen game design (inventory, exploration, interface). So you may very well be 100% correct.

Good. Those were all things that were noticeably absent in the Mass Effect sequels. For the most part atleast. But especially Exploration. How in the hell are you going show us this wondrous, vast and fertile galaxy in the first game, just to make us run down hallways in the sequels. That's like making an oceanic RPG and saying you can only swim on the surface with your head above water. You're not allowed to explore the rich world of the deep....
Hopefully they remedy the issue.

Yeap, exactly my case few years later.
I lived in little mountain city without option of fiber connection, so every storm, stronger rain or snowing were disrupting my access to net. So when I was able to access discusion and net sites without bigger problem, because irregular micro-drop outs anything demanding full-time connections was useless for me, tested on Assassin creed 2.
