Apparently there are people at Microsoft that view the X Box Division as a distraction .
shrugs.
The discussion I saw on Gamefaqs about it, the OP wanted Nintendo to buy it. Other posters wanted Sega to buy it.
Who do you think should buy it if it goes on sale.
Maybe EA or even Activision.
Rotfl.
Only kidding.

Nintendo already has there line of IP's and products and probably would rather spend the money on developing those rather than buying a whole console division which has drastically different online/IP/creative process etc.
Sega I doubt since they just acquired Atlus' parent company and all IP's associated so they probably don't have the spare capital to make such an acquisition.

EA will buy it
Hardware is not their focus and they don't really have the money.
Besides publishers have been profitable while Sony and Microsoft have squandered billions on their consoles. No reason to spend an enormous amount of money to enter an unprofitable area and divert focus from your core business when you can continue to capitalize on others' willingness to burn money.
There's a reason investors at both Sony and MS have been making noises about ditching consoles.

He's been a CEO before .
Like I said, there are people at Microsoft that want to get rid of the X Box Division .
As someone else pointed out there are investors that want to get rid of the X Box Division.
shrugs.
The CEO has a lot of power, my guess is the BOD would go along with it, if it seems reasonable .
shrugs.
I wonder if Samsung would be interested .
I feel sure they have the money to buy it.

I can't post links with this system.
I did put my pc in the shop, so I might have it back in a couple of weeks.
shrugs.
Yes there are other candidates for the job.
I do find it unsettling that it seems some high ranking people at Microsoft want to get rid of the X Box. This CEO candidate must have their backing imo.

If you think that then you obviously know jack on the way Microsoft works. Or the position of what a CEO does.

Do you red ?
That was a jerkish comment to make by the way.
I'm only going by what the article says.
If you don't like the discussion , then don't post in this thread.
shrugs.

Considering Xbox and Bing within the Microsoft entertainment division have suffered a loss of $2billion loss for several years running, which has only been covered by their android patents, which are due to expire, it doesn't bode well for the entertainment division if royalty payments have been the only thing allowing them to post a profit.
I think I bashed someone else on the big X1 thread regarding MSFTs desire to bank roll the X1, when they replied that MSFT could afford to cover the losses indefinitely, namely because anyone who subscribes to that mentality is a ****ing moron. Nice to know I wasn't far off the mark when I said that over 3 months ago.
The main drive of the X1 seems to revolve around ad revenue. Why did it always have to be online, why does everything have to be about the power of the cloud, why do they want data to be collected about your habits and the big push for the all in one entertainment system? If you look at Xbox live's dashboard at the moment it's an advert littered cluster****. It's not a huge leap of logic to consider MSFT is looking to monetize the ads and attempt to recoup their losses on the Xbox.
I don't see that the Xbox will be bought by another company. Sony won't, Nintendo won't as MSFT moving out of the market is great for their hardware. Valve won't as they are pushing in with the Steambox. None of the publishers have the financial muscle to buy xbox, not the logistical resources to mass produce hardware, plus they would set their software products in direct competition with Sony and Nintendo, which is their main revenue source.
If it comes to it the Xbox division will be spun off, as a subsidiary or separate company of MSFT, depending on how the X1 performs. But, without the financial backing of the software division I doubt they'll be throwing about money to secure pre release exclusives. Titan Fall anyone? Held in perpetuity on the X1, who's bloody daft idea was that? Especially when it's also on PC and it only applies to the first game not the entire IP *head desk* and it's not even a release title.
Ohi vey. No wonder they take a $2 billion loss each year.

Venture capitalism is another possibility , run by former console people with VC money, if it could be made profitable.

I support Samsung buying XBox. With all its benefits from Phones, TVs, Monitors, Refrigerators and other electric devices, Samsung can do it.

@RedArmyShogun: I personally find it appalling that one's name is stupid because (maybe) yours is so above it. WTF does ones name have to do with a business decision? Sheesh, I wonder how some people gather the logic they do.

That's utterly retarded.
Considering all hardware consoles make a loss on release that's not suprising and making a point that the subscription is needed to turn a profit isn't anything new. While Sony's consoles have made a profit it's film branch of the entertainment division is a trainwreck at the moment.
Where as xbox has been sitting on a $2billion loss year on year gross. It's survival has only been assured so far by being bank rolled with Android patents, which will end.
Sony's entertaiment division is not, and yet manages to make some return, hence the incoming company re orienatation and streamlining. The same will happen to MSFT but one is a electronic hardware manufacturer the later is a software manufacturer.

Sony staggered through the PS3 blunder, it would seem short-sighted to ditch it now when the PS4 is looking much better for them.
Unlike the PS3, it is not being sold for an enormous loss. Its price is much more competitive, has a far stronger library to attract consumers and earn license fees, and will also enjoy the income stream from paid online.
While they turned things around later, the PS3 still had a huge hole to dig itself out thanks to very high production costs and the "599 US dollars"/no games fiasco slaughtering them at launch. Maybe they've learned some lessons.
