I wish that was true.

I have had some really hardcore Quarian lovers say the Geth should've just let themselves be killed byt he Quarians rather than dare try to live by siding with the Reapers.

Not enough facepalming in the world.

Actually that's a valid point and I've heard a lot of people who dislike the Quarians say that as well. The Reapers will harvest any civilization, synthetic or organic, at some point. Siding with the Reapers voluntarily is about the worst possible thing you could do. By siding with the Reapers all the Geth could have possibly achieved would be a prolongation of their inevitable collective demise, in addition to the destruction of their own creators. I'm sure the Geth weren't as stupid as to believe, that bargaining with the devil would save them.

That alone is enough reason for me to destroy them for good.

Case in point.

And quarian idiocy in starting a war when they know the Reapers were coming were enough reason for me to allow said stupidity to bite them in the ass. Thankfully the game allows us to save either Quarian, Geth or both if we want. :D

Because Space Jesus came out of nowhere to save the day. If Shep hadn't been there to help them, both sides would've been doomed. The Geth must've realized that.

A decision made because it, perhaps marginally, increased their chances of survival, at least for a longer period of time than they were going to before. And, of course, it paid off. AI logic wins again.

Toasters aren't alive.

Malfunctioning toasters are always decommissioned.

Toasters that side with genocidal cuttlefish are permanently deactivated.

We humans would do the same damn thing if our future servant, construction, and military robots stopped following our orders.

Also this about Ashley's personality, not about Toasters.

Perhaps. Not all humans, however.

I'd hope our people wouldn't be so idiotic as to respond to a "do I have a soul?" question by going BLOW IT UP BLOW IT UP! Despite the damn things being perfectly capable of killing us all and resulting in us getting our asses kicked and our population decimated because we were too eager to kill something that wasn't even hostile.

But at the cost of total slavery, the loss of all free will. Like how some organics allowed themselves to be turned to husks by the reapers in exchange for "survival".

The geth went back with no losses; indeed, actual programming upgrades.

Oh wow, how incredibly noble of the robots. "Yeah, let's side with the Reapers who will let us wipe out our own creators and commit total genocide. Then right afterwards we will be destroyed too, hooray!"
I guess accepting defeat and dying with honor is overrated.

Yep but they weren't dead.

And in my game they ended up coming out ahead so siding with the Reapers was to their benefit.

I don't think you understand the circumstances of the Morning War at all. Please spare me your poor analogies, thanks.

So what hostile geth started attacking the Quarians before they enacted their martial law? PLEASE tell me. I'd love to know. Even TALI admits the Quarians started ****.

Don't start none won't be none.

Don't start **** then cry when you get your ass kicked.

Or something else will happen to help them out. Which it did.

Rather difficult of you to paint them for being stupid when they were completely right.

A life in complete slavery without free will isn't a life worth living. At some point the enthralled Geth would have been disposed off too. Again, the arrival of Shepy couldn't have been predicted.

Maybe it's just my limited organic mind thinking, but I wouldn't want to continue living if it means I just live as a mindless drone who does as instructed by another, even if it did give me better ablilities/upgrades.

To you it might not be. People differ on that. Some would choose slavery over death.

But they would've lived longer.

As for Shep's arrival...one could argue that he/she would eventually turn to the Quarians for an alliance. He/she made no secret of looking for allies in the war against the Reapers. indeed in ME2 Shep can say something to the effect of needing the Quarian ships for the fight.

That's not the point. The point is that it gives the geth more time to survive in case something else happens. A slim chance is better than none.

Nothing besides Shep would've saved them and the fact, that the Geth might've set all their stakes on the possible arrival of one man makes them look even worse. Especially if Shep never established contact with them in ME2.

Which is fair. People are different. You do have people who want to live at any cost.

It's where people are going "OMG how dare the Geth not just lay down and die so the Quarians could have their hunk of rock that would quickly be overrun by Reapers!" is where I go LOL.

And replaying ME3 and on Thessia. Ugh. I HATE Thessia. Now I have to deal with "MY PEOPLEZ" and Kai ******.

The point is that it raised their odds, and raised them high enough. That's all that matters.

Yeah, I'm sure trying to be friendly and peaceful with the Geth and then getting your planet nuked by the Turians for breaking council law was a much better option. Of course AIs would never ever turn on their creators and it's completely safe to trust a machine that lacks many basic thought processes and hasn't fully developed yet.

With a force such as the Reapers, there is no slim chance, only an illusion of it. Unless you are saying they could be liberated "as they were by Shepard" as a result of that slim chance, then I could understand why they would submit, but without that certainty,I would not trust Reapers with my survival.

Yeah like the turians have any time to be bothered with the Quarians (who by the way were ALREADY breaking council law by putting guns on their liveships) when they have Reapers breathing down their necks.

Get out of here with that nonsense.

The turians wouldn't have given a damn about them having an alliance with the geth outside of any aid both groups could've given them.

Cerberus aren't even in the slightest comparable to the Reapers, that's a false analogy.
