Yeah, I'm sure trying to be friendly and peaceful with the Geth and then getting your planet nuked by the Turians for breaking council law was a much better option. Of course AIs would never ever turn on their creators and it's completely safe to trust a machine that lacks many basic thought processes and hasn't fully developed yet.

Yeah like the turians have any time to be bothered with the Quarians (who by the way were ALREADY breaking council law by putting guns on their liveships) when they have Reapers breathing down their necks.

Get out of here with that nonsense.

I'm talking about the Morning War mate, that was 300 years before people knew of the Reapers. If the Quarians hadn't attempted to destroy the Geth, the Council would've sent their fleets to dispose of them. Any and all AIs are illegal by council law, this would've lead to a full scale war between Rannoch and the Council.

And they wouldn't have been in trouble if they hadn't been screwing around with AI tech in the first place. (At least every other group that screws with AI tech can handle their own business and do it on low scales. Not the Quarians. NOPE).

But regardless morning war or otherwise doesn't excuse their stupidity in ME3.

I'm sure the Geth weren't as stupid as to believe, that bargaining with the devil would save them.

Well, it did.

Because Space Jesus came out of nowhere to save the day. If Shep hadn't been there to help them, both sides would've been doomed. The Geth must've realized that.

Just like Shep working with Cerberus - deal with the devil.

Cerberus aren't even in the slightest comparable to the Reapers, that's a false analogy.

Terrorist organization willing to sacrifice human colonies that planned to control the Reapers to dominate the galaxy is not comparable?

Ok.

I always thought the Illusive's man's "we can control them!" idea was born of indoctrination. The guys a smart man. He surely would've realized that was a terrible idea.

Well, that also turns out to not be so terrible.

How does a thread about Ashley Williams end up turning into yet another Geth/Quarian thread?

...No I have no idea how a paragon "I will hurt you if you disturb the peace"  or renegade "You will obey me" AI with the power of the Reapers behind it could possibly go wrong. <_<

Well, you can make the choice and headcanon it going wrong if you like tragedy, I suppose. I don't.

Agreed, they should not have built the Geth in the first place. And yes, the first thing the Quarians should do after the war is a complete change of leadership. Especially Space Loghain doesn't deserve his spot.

BSN law, every long thread will at some point develope into a Geth/Quarian, Templar/Mage or Genophage debate.

What TIM says in the Mars encounter is the it is "what I've always wanted." But if he's indoctrinated at that point he may not know what he's always wanted.

Space Loghain needs to be thrown out an airlock. Punching him was the highlight of the Dreadnaught quest.

It's fun.

We used to be fired up about the save the base/ destroy the base choice til BW made that option largely irrelevant. :(

Indeed. It's the BSN version of Godwin's Law. Although I think the Genophage lags quite a bit behind the Geth/Quarian wars and the Mage/Templar issue in terms of how fired up people get over it. I've actually got a hypothesis about it; it's because of the ending. Suppose it had turned out that the Genophage cure was based on Reaper tech and thus, the Crucible would wipe out all Krogan instead of the Geth. My guess is that there would have been far more threads debating whether or not the galaxy is better off without the Krogan and their inherent barbarism, while there would have been a lot fewer Geth/Quarian threads.

Han'Gerrel seemed like a reasonable enough guy in ME2.  HE actually had some cogent reasons why the quarians should go to war with the geth, whether or not you believed in them.

THen in ME3 he apparantly got some lead chips caught in his helmet...
