What's strange is when I read the comics, Liara kind of comes off pretty cool. Mac Walters writes her OK on his own. Of course, comics are mostly action based, but still. It was tolerable. And he doesn't go overboard with her obsession, even though the story is revolved around salvaging Shepard's body. He doesn't overstep his bounds in giving her a precise motivation for it. You're free to just see it as a friend helping a friend. In fact, it seems like she could easily have hooked up with Feron in the comics.

I think it's Sylvia whatherface responsible for what we see in the games..

Mac Wrote LotSB.

Sylvia wrote her in ME3.

Ah..

Speaking of which, it would have helped a ton if they indicated she is with Feron, if Shep doesn't romance her. That'd give people peace of mind, instead of being left with lingering thought that Liara is just obsessed and singleminded about Shepard. A non romanced Liara needs something else in her life. She's not a good character outside the romance.. Not a good character on her own.

LOL Exactly my thought. I finally made a Shep that romanced Ashley he's gonna end up with Liara in ME3. I mean that overly longing tone of voice just hit my "wat" button. Perfect for a Liaramance Shep but is extremely awkward with any other Shep.

I half wonder if it wasn't a glitch. A "friend" Shepard has a distinctly different greeting for Tali in the war room than one who romanced her in ME2, IIRC. More curt, less longing. ME1 had the infamous false lock-in for Liara's romance; maybe there was a curt greeting for Liara in ME3 which simply never triggers. Sort of like the Aethyta glitch... Liara had a lot of glitches, didn't she?

Did any PC players ever check? They seemed to be real concerned about Conrad Verner's paragon/renegade appearances.

Ooh he does?

I hope it's bugged at least then that means that crap wasn't intentional.

LOL yeah Tali coming back from the dead to comfort Shepard was hilarious. I HC that as Shep having a hallucination funnier that way.

I'll have to do a Garrus romance play through. The options for femShep were extremely limited. I ended up with Liara 90% of the time. Garrus was just so... ugly. Nice guy, but ....  I tried Jacob and Thane. Well you know how those turned out.

They did some subtle stuff with her. When Tali unmasks on Rannoch, a Shepard who romanced her looks at her as she looks out over the horizon. A Shepard who didn't romance her looks out at the view instead.

I'm with you on the hallucination for that last part.:wizard: Hard to imagine someone could stay sane after causing something like that.

I finally figured out how to "fix" the Aethyta glitch!  No longer do I get really awkward dialogue that I'm Liara's boyfriend while Ash is recuperating in the hospital!

I think I got bugged there. When my Shep was talking about the beautiful view he was staring dead at her which confused the hell out of me.

One can hope...

Indeed.

:P I'd argue after all those dreams of little boy Shep's sanity was always in question.

Tali can show up for a romance scene after you've sided with the Geth? Then Shepard has dreams about the kid.... Does that prove IT? or is it Undead Tali? OMG that is hilarious. Didn't they do any debugging on this game?

I have the chronic Krogan glitch on the Citadel DLC in the Armax Arena where both Krogan are absolutely useless. Three different games.

Huh. I guess it's different for everyone. I have never gotten the Aethyta glitch. Maybe there's even someone out there who gave Tali a non-invisible rock...

I would be very impressed if someone had that.

I'm convinced BioWare just forgot to put a rock in:bandit:

Her mask disappears, too, in the romance scene.
And her knife in the scene where she shanks the VI is the broken hilt of a Phantom's sword. :wizard:

Granted, a unique model isn't needed for something like the latter. Just a funny observation. That photo, though...

Yeah, that sucks. Femshep lacks options. I shouldn't complain too much. They at least acknowledge more tastes and storylines with Male players.

Has it at any time ever stricken anyone as odd that Shepard can romance certain alien species w/o regard to physiology?

It struck Hudson himself as odd at first. He was just as surprised people wanted to romance characters like Tali and Garrus at first. I forgot the quote, but something along the lines of "Who wants to hook up with a girl with chicken feet?"

When you first get a chance to talk to Liara on the Presidium, and she mentions all the stuff they need to stock up on "Eezo, heavy arms, mercenary groups", don't take the  "you should relax" option, as that somehow triggers Aytheta thinking Shep and Liara are a couple.  Take the "Good thinking" option.

Considering BW's aliens act like humans in costumes not really.

The geth in ME2 were the closest to an alien race and we all know what happened to them in ME3.

Edit: @Iakus: oooh good so I won't get that on my renedouche then :D I just finished that convo too.

See, the "good thinking" option is the one I think I always took. Maybe that explains it.

So much wasted potential...

No wonder. I always take the "Good thinking" option. It's a ****ing Reaper War. No time to relax. Especially after just telling Joker how idiotic everyone on the Citadel is for relaxing.

To be fair the idiots on the Citadel aren't under heavy fire on a practically daily basis. Being constantly stressed out isn't that good either.

True enough.

Also to be fair, it's why the Citadel DLC is my favorite part of the game. I get to be an idiot like everyone else. My instinct never leaned to tell her to relax though. Now I know to avoid it even more.

Exactly. I don't see how Liara's "experience with prothean tech" help when she runs around with a gun.

Ryzaki wrote...
I really
don't see how that's equal to Ashley's "You saved my life so I'm gonna
stick on the ship despite you openly not wanting me on the ship." even
more so since you can't beat the game without Liara. Ashley could
completely vanish from the game (without needing a counterpart that does
her role in the game) and not a damn difference would it make.

It's because real military tries to replenish their casualties, if they can do it where they sustained that casualties, it's even better. Especially when a new recruit is miles better than the casualty, has loads of experience including combat and against Geth.

It doesn't that's what Garrus, Wrex and Kaidan are for. Not to mention her biotics would help in a firefight.

She doesn't have loads of experience against Geth. She has *slightly* more experience than Shep and most of that experience is watching her company get wiped out.  As for tour experience I'm fairly certain the alliance would have better soldiers (not to mention hastily replacing a crewmember you specifically handpicked with someone you barely know hits my "Huh" buttons if Anderson's interviews in Citadel mean anything).

As for replenishing casualities fair enough but let's not act like ME military acts like RL military. If it did Ashley would've never gotten all the promotions so quickly. Among many other things.
