So... N7 day... Was it a success or a missed opportunity?

I've been here for a short time, some months after development of the game had stopped. It was painfully obvious to me (and should be to everyone with a brain) that no matter how much we would ask for new content, bioware were not going to move resources back to ME3.But N7 day was supposed to be different. It was supposed to be the day when something unique happened that would reward the loyalty of the players who still play the game. But instead, we had the "opportunity" to play with devs, even though actually playing with one seemed like a one in a million chance. So it woud seem that ME3MP is destined to go out not with a bang, but a whimper.
Now I think most of us agree that bioware should be thanked for all their hard work in the past and for bringing us the game in the first place. But judging by how many people care about this game and still play on it, I feel that not enough effort was put into N7 day and it unsurprisingly ended a disappointment.
So my question is, why did bioware feel the need to practically sweep the ME3MP community under the rug? Surely, this was your last big opportunity to give this game the sendoff it deserves and that the community that has been loyal all this time get something special that would have made N7 day worthwhile...<_<

Not really impressed, though I saw a few devs like BroJo doing their part (I have no doubt that is why people like him). Oh and the voice actors did stuff, cool. Other than that, not unlocking things like the N7 banner and the rest of what was out there was fairly underwhelming to me.

Success.

I have been around since the beginning, and it's been a super fun, wild ride that was way more than I expected. Lots of support, and interaction with Devs for a good amount of time. There could have been so much more some will say, but I am satisfied. I did not expect much of anything this N7 day, so the thank you video and Brojo and others in these threads again was plenty for me.

Definitely a success, and the community did get something from it; teasers regarding the next release. A teaser 18-24 months before release is quite a gift from a gaming company.

http://storify.com/BioWare/n7-day-2013

The expectation that they would release new content while in the process of developing two AAA titles (DA:I and ME4) would be a little much.

Modest success for me. The little thank you vid was sweet, and BroJo's contribution welcome. I think the community was what made N7 day - I saw a lot of N7 banners (both kinds) in lobbies, and more N7 characters being played. Both on BSN and in game I felt there was a community celebration. And it was goofy fun to wish others 'happy N7 day' after a game.

So 7/10? I'm glad Bio acknowledged the day. They could have done more, but I'm glad there was something.

Which is one of the reasons why I made this thread. It's obvious that BroJo cares about this more than the average Bioware dev, so I was hoping he could answer why N7 day was so underwhelming, despite the continued popularity of the game.

My guess?

Because EA said so, either directly or indirectly.

I would like to thank Max Dmian and Kouzrah for my N7Day enjoyment via Twitch streaming...

we'll just have to wait till ME4 before N7Day will get full recognition from the devs.

I think you're right. The community did make N7 day a partial success. But that was because of actions from the community themselves, whereas Bioware seemed to have very little input other then the aforementioned voice actors vid and the teaser.

Operation Lodestar was their last big sendoff. While I feel for you having come to the game after the party, they can't just keep having last big sendoffs. They have allocated their personnel elsewhere - while the servers will keep running as long as people are playing, support for this game is done.

Oh, and they didn't have to do anything this year, but they did. In the words of every Batarian, "Stop whining!"

This.

Yeah, I didn't get to play ME3 MP this N7 Day, but the feedback that we got here on the Forum, from the Devs, from everyone, it really made my tears fall...:crying:

See, they didn't need to do something like the Thank you video. But they did. They didn't need to play with us. But they did.

So, yeah. It was a Succesful Success :wizard:

Meh, N7 day became inconsequential the minute I decided to not play Mass Effect on it.

Definitely. One of the surest ways the community can keep the game relevant while they're developing the next iteration of the game is to continue playing and discussing it.

On that note I'm gonna boot the game up and get some random U/U's done...after I have another cup of joe.

I wouldn't go as far as to say the dev's don't care as much. They are working on ME4. I kinda look at ME3 multiplayer as a beta for ME4.  ME4 multiplayer will probably be supported longer and better, when it comes to the community operations. With saying that it would have been nice to have a community challenge considering it's the most important day in the Mass Effect World. But I'm not butthurt that there wasn't.

No no no no no.

You are VERY wrong in that.

See, Brojo can post more in the forums and all of those things, but I believe that all some(can't say ALL, since IDK)of the Bioware Devs were there, in their offices, playing and enjoying and laughing in their N7 Day.

Hell, by saying this, you commited more mistakes than a 25 year old in his/her whole life

Edit: Fixed faulty Quoting Problem :pinched:

I'm not one of those posters who will chase false hopes and annoy Bioware for new content! :P

This thread is more reflective. The reason Lodestar was the big sendoff was because someone at Bioware or EA made the ridiculously stupid prediction that the MP portion of the game would wind down and die soon after. Many months since and ME3MP is still alive and well. It would have been nice for Bioware/EA to acknowledge their mistake and treated the players with something... ANYTHING!!!

I think they moved on because they're working in other projects, like the new Dragon Age (wich is expected to be released next year) and also the new Mass Effect (I don`t want to call it ME4 because the trilogy is over).

We all knew this was going to happen since they announced the ends of the weekend challenges and the multiplayer balance changes.

Is up to us to keep the game alive, and I can say for personal experience that it is still very much alive, a lot of people still play it and new players come in too.

As for the N7 day, I saw a lot of people using the Loyalist banner, me included, and a lot of my friends whished me a happy N7 day.

So, from that point of view, I think the N7 day was a success.

The only thing I wish they had done for that day is to reopen the challenge so that many new players could've gotten that banner.

ME3MP was probably budgeted for precisely one year of support, at which point BW most likely requested more funding, but were denied.

I'm more surprised as to why anyone expected anything big out of a random day dedicated to a franchise whose last game came out nearly 2 years ago.

Or why it being a "success" is important in any level to begin with.

And...

Honestly, I had forgotten about N7 day until I was reminded of it and when I saw it was gonna be done again I was like 'huh, really?", so the fact that anything was done AT ALL was pretty nice.

Or they could be simply be doing this to focus on the next Mass Effect.(IDK)

Really, you are saying something that isn't confirmed or isn't even true.

You people just refuse to understand why things like "unlocking" the N7 banner aren't feasible.

They'v explained, yet you complain about it in such a manner as to imply that it would have been the easiest thing in the world, like just flipping a light switch.

Ugh, the worst.
