It has nothing to do with a sense of entitlement. If I buy a game, even though it's not like before when you bought the finished article, I expect eventually for the game to be fine tuned and most, if not all glitches and errors to be removed. No one can deny this game is half assed, but I, like many people, look past the faults and continue to enjoy the game. Like I said, this is a reflective thread, I never expected anything from N7 day anyway. I was just surprised people are happy at Bioware for doing nothing that actually affected the game.prostheticlimbs wrote...

The truth of the matter is that even if BioWare had showered us with a new DLC, gift packs in the store, new challenges and banners, there would still be people complaining. That is the most annoying thing to me.
Yeah, I can only get so exercised about the quality of things for which I'm not paying anything.
It reminds me of a commentary I saw on the Magic fan base some years ago: "If they put a 20 dollar bill in every booster pack, you guys would complain about how it was folded."

Not sarcasm. I'm sure someone has touched on it by now. We got a video and developer involvement (on the forums and platforms).
Server status permitting, I'll be playing when the next N7 Day is upon us.

And now we know that they're already working on NextME
You say yourself you're relatively new here so you don't know what past events were like.
Why do you care so much?

Why are you surprised? Did they ever SAY they were going to be doing any patches, or anything of the sort? No. They said the devs were going to be playing with people in PUGs, and that's what they did. Some people on here ran into them, thus they were happy the got the opportunity. I'm pretty sure when they say support is cut for the game, that means that support is cut for the game. You say you didn't expect anything, so why are you so bothered about other people who enjoyed themselves?David Diablo wrote...

Very true about it not being a missed opportunity and they did show SOME appreciation, but my opinion is that if they weren't going to take this opportunity to do something, then the day they decide to shut the server down can't be too far away... Look.
They did something, and whether we want to acknowledge it or not, EA/BW went out of their way to try to show the player base their appreciation. I'd say it was a success for them because they were able to give back on N7 Day this late in the life of the game.
I'd also say they did NOT miss an opportunity; if they decided to drop a DLC next week, would you still download it? The answer is yes; you wouldn't skip it out of spite for them not doing it on N7 Day. That's where the opportunity would be for EA/Bioware, if they decided to milk more money out of the players still playing, but that opportunity still exists and will until the servers shut off.
If your theory is that they wanted to do something special for us, the players, then yes, N7 Day would've been the perfect day to surprise us with something.
What wouuld have been an adequate amount of appreciation to you? Because I thought the video featuring fan art was a very nice gesture on their part.
When did saying "Thank you!" stop being enough?

The expectation that all of the bugs in a game get corrected over time if fairly new, though. The hundreds of hours we've all poured into the game suggest that it was a good enough product to justify having spent our money.
And "faceless corporations" are made up of individuals who all have faces. Those bug fixes require the work of real people. If that work is uncompensated, I don't expect there to be very much of it.

I feel I can answer Lazarus here too. Because I'm genuinely cynical of the fact that Bioware/EA will learn from the mistakes of ME3 and if everyone is just going to be happy with an unfinished product, then what's to say the next ME won't have similar issues. I care because Mass Effect is one of the best game series I've ever played and is now one of the last games of any kind I still play. It would be really sad if the next Mass Effect was a flop and might put me off videogames altogether...The-Fantasm wrote...

Yeah, I had a lot of fun playing before with friends and I'm glad you enjoyed N7 day. But what I want to know is why Bioware didn't take advantage of that feel good factor and do something that involved the game. Hell, I would have settled for a patch to fix some of the bugs.Sketfish wrote...
David, I agree that we have been left with a buggy game, but them adding fan art to the video and user created banners to the game a while back, were both fantastic gestures to the fan base. It would be cool if they fixed some of the bugs, but this game went way beyond being just a game for some of us and got people like me who don't really socialise online, to meet some of the Coolest people on our respective platforms. For me N7 day and the week leading up to it were about getting together with those people and just having fun regardless of what BW did or didn't do. It was a success to me...

I'm not going to look all over the net to find examples, but I've seen games have patch after patch after patch to fix things that the last patch broke, and the cycle never stops until they pull the plug.
Bioware gave us a game, fixed as much of it as they could before pulling support and took the time to put together something for the fans 18 months after the release of the game, also on the heels of the debut of the next generation consoles. I got nothing bad to say about Bioware or the game in its current state, because that's how every online MP game ends up. I think we got our money's worth and then some; I've logged close to 800 hrs playing this game, that's almost 6x as many hours as I've played ANY one game (FFXIII was 140~).
If the next one is only marginally better, it's worth it to me.

Not really impressed, though I saw a few devs like BroJo doing their part (I have no doubt that is why people like him). Oh and the voice actors did stuff, cool. Other than that, not unlocking things like the N7 banner and the rest of what was out there was fairly underwhelming to me.
You people just refuse to understand why things like "unlocking" the N7 banner aren't feasible.
They'v explained, yet you complain about it in such a manner as to imply that it would have been the easiest thing in the world, like just flipping a light switch.

Fine. Just on Xbox 360, Gears of War 2, Forza Motorsport 3, Halo 3, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and even Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, which wasn't my cup of tea, are all what I consider better MPs or at least, not as glitchy. The only other MP that I played that had this many bugs was the FIFA series, which was made by EA...prostheticlimbs wrote...
Again, please be more specific David. I'd like to have an accurate comparison.
If it wasn't for BSN and the people I met here, I would have probably quit ME3MP hundreds of hours ago.

Remember that BioWare works under EA and EA doesn't like to spend money, they like to obtain money.
And one way of making money is to keep customers as repeats.
I call missed opportunity.
The video, blog post and devs playing (apparently) were nice, but more promotion would have been good.
No I don't mean free stuff even:
- where was the rumoured merchandise discounts and offers?
I had to go hunting, and it's there but not well promoted : http://www.biowarestore.com/
- splash screen on start up?
I kept saying to PUGs "Happy N7 Day", and got silence or "da fcuk?" back.
- play with a Bioware employee?
In keeping with promotion, some work hours could have been given up, so ex/current Bioware didn't have to use their own time. That's just marketing, and is factored into projects, much like training sick days etc. also would have enabled less Egmont centric randomness.
- free stuff?
I expected nothing, and with a maxed manifest don't really care, but a bone would have been nice to those with the RNG mountain to climb.
Just felt like more could have been done to keep goodwill, and show commitment to the Fanbase.

I've been here for a short time, some months after development of the game had stopped. It was painfully obvious to me (and should be to everyone with a brain) that no matter how much we would ask for new content, bioware were not going to move resources back to ME3.But N7 day was supposed to be different. It was supposed to be the day when something unique happened that would reward the loyalty of the players who still play the game. But instead, we had the "opportunity" to play with devs, even though actually playing with one seemed like a one in a million chance. So it woud seem that ME3MP is destined to go out not with a bang, but a whimper.
Now I think most of us agree that bioware should be thanked for all their hard work in the past and for bringing us the game in the first place. But judging by how many people care about this game and still play on it, I feel that not enough effort was put into N7 day and it unsurprisingly ended a disappointment.
So my question is, why did bioware feel the need to practically sweep the ME3MP community under the rug? Surely, this was your last big opportunity to give this game the sendoff it deserves and that the community that has been loyal all this time get something special that would have made N7 day worthwhile...<_<
When did you buy the game?
because the stuff you are looking for happened for an entire year after release

I would probably settle for a polished version of what we have now with new game modes, not just horde mode. Throw in new characters, weapons and maps and I would be more than happy. But if people are going to act happy with what they have now, my money is on the same bugs and glitches reappearing in the next ME, unless they completely overhaul the MP, which raises an entirely different matter.ClydeInTheShell wrote...

I love this game too, but I've only sunk in so many hours because of the people I play with and the fact I love the Mass Effect Universe more then other games that are out.
