As a Warrior, will there ever come a time when I will be able to open these locked chests, etc., that I encounter?

...there will never be any quest items in a locked chest; in fact most chest items are low 'quality' and at best medium.
You don't have to worry you're missing something 'really good' or important! :)
There are mods (if you're on a PC) that will allow to break these chests open.

Only rogues can unlock chests (and detect and disarm traps), so it's a good idea to always have one in your party.

In the base game, anyway. As Jeff said, there are mods that allow warriors to unlock chests.

Note that picking locks nets you a good amount of XP even if the loot is junk.

I have read many say that one should have/keep a Rogue in their party. I have Daveth, but.... he's such a whiner and....

How does one go about adding who you want in your party?

Eventually you will reach a point where you have more than 3 companions. It is then that you start having to choose who to bring and who to leave behind. You'll get there before too long.

During my first short playthrough, I encountered Daveth, The Rogue; Morrigan, a Mage, another Mage whose name escapes me and Sten, a Warrior.  Will I encounter another Rogue in the early part of my adventure?  I have come across alot of locked doors, etc., during my travels.

And after your rogue has leveled up, remember to revisit the older areas. I recently did this and got into a number of chests and rooms I couldn't open initially.

When you come to the village where you meet Sten, make sure to explore the village thoroughly. There is a rogue there who is reasonably easy to miss.

Hmmmm, here the $64,000 question.  How early is early?  At what point in the adventure?  Or is it character dependant, based upon my choices during the game?

Ignoring the fact that you can be a rogue and the temporary companions you have in the beginning of the game, the first long-term rogue companion can be found in Lothering - the village where you meet Sten. Make sure you explore it thoroughly.

A second rogue will unavoidably cross your path soon afterwards as well.

Admittedly this may seem a substantial portion of the way into the game. But this is a long game. You have probably passed a few unopenable chests before now, but trust me, they weren't containing anything important.

No dependency .... a rogue-type is available in Lothering, where you met Sten... so quite early in the game (but not at the beginning of the game)

Thanks.  That is good news to read because I am currently in the Towers of Ishal, first floor and there are 2 locked chests there.  They are probably containing nothing of consequence.  But I surmise that I will end up coming upon a locked door.

I will look for that Rogue in Lothering.  I didn't cross his path when I was there earlier.

Mostly junk. You can't open the chests at the tower of Ishal unless you play a rogue yourself.

Her path. The rogue is a she.

If you explore lothering you'll find the rogue there hard to miss.

One of the crime quests requires items from locked chests. However it's of little consequence, there are no followup quests and no story involved, just a small gold reward.

If you miss the rogue in Lothering and the game advances, that rogue is gone for good.

Got the Rogue - Leliana. She has been very helpful.
