Depends on how you define RPG. Actually, since ME is a 'shooter RPG', it depends on how you define 'shooter RPG. II think it's about playing the role of someone who uses guns, which is what ME2 is. think it's odd that exploration and RPG are separated.

As far as I'm concerned, I'll be alarmed about it losing its RPG elements when character creation and dialogue choices disappear. Basically, as long as I have choices and can control the narrative, I'm happy with it.

They honestly thought the first one only had 30% action? That alone "ruins" the credibility of their review.

I remember doing a hell of a lot of shooting, but I could be wrong.

You were not shooting you were role playing with dice.

Oh! Yes, that must've been it.

FU BioWare, why did you mess with the game to make it more awesome!?

The game is ruined. Basically Bioware wanted Infinity Ward's market and unofficially created Call of Duty: Future Warfare.

I will now begin my assessment of everything that's wrong with your post, and of everything that is wrong with your way of thinking that led to your assinine conclunsion.

Thank you for highlighting what is wrong with humans, as a species.

You made a sweeping generalization based on one review.

You behaved untelligently.

You did not gather information from multiple reviews, compare what numerous people have said, and draw a conclusion based on that.

You looked at one review that lines up with your concerns, and you allowed it to dominate your thinking regarding this game.

The review, overall, was very positive. You ignored every other positive review.

You came off as an uninformed fool.

I am embarrassed to have read what you wrote, it really is that foolish.

Obvious troll.

A reviewer from polish CD-Action gave ME2 10/10.

"Games Aktuell"

Mass Effect 1 was:
30% Exploring, 40% RPG, 30% Action

Mass Effect 2 is:
20% Exploring, 30% RPG, 50% Action

The game is ruined. Basically Bioware wanted Infinity Ward's market and unofficially created Call of Duty: Future Warfare.

Oh my gosh. Whatever dude. Bioware specifically said that they're making the remaining Mass Effect games for the people who are already fans of the franchise. They made the combat better (hello, if you're shooting guns, you want it to be the best that the shooting element can be) and the RPG elements and inventory more streamlined (i.e. less menus). The character progression is still there. And besides, its all about the story.

Also, the hammerhead DLC will be out with more planets and a vehicle to explore them with. Don't flip out, just wait to play the game. If you're that scared about it, cancel your preorder and rent it. I'm sure you'll love it if you loved the first game. Even if you didn't, it looks to be so much better than ME1 you'll probably like it.

Also, its Bioware we're talking here. The game is an rpg.

Oh, I don't care what he wants. I'm not trying to stop him, I'm just making sure he's fully aware of what he is.

I don't intend to engage him in an argument. If he responds, he will be ignored. I've said my piece, and if he comes here and posts a ranting response (or even makes snide remarks), he'll simply reinforce people's negative opinion of him.

I simply want to make it abundantly clear that there is no logic to his argument, and that to conintue thinking in such a way hardly makes him sapient. That's all.

Good summation, what was the site/mag that had this review?  You seem to know.

well if you trust the place that reviews games i see no reason not to judge it based on 1 review...I found some games that would score low that i found fun at some places and is scored how i would scored at another. If i see they consistantly score how i would then i would trust them to score it right.*using one review to try to convince us was foolish*

I can't find the thread (I did a quick search, but not a thorough one...I have to wake up in just a few hours), but someone posted a bunch of reviews, and next to the links were the scores.

He also provided a brief summary. This German review gave the game at least a 9, and the overall summary was very positive. If you can find the review, I recommend reading the OP's summary (not the OP of this thread, the OP of the review collection thread), as that provides all of the pertinent information.

Regardless, NO review has given this game lower than a 9 so far, and it has received multiple 10's.

In no way is the game bad or ruined, and I make that statement based on reading numerous reviews, rather than what the OP here did.

And someone made the point of basing an opinion on one review not being bad: that's true. It isn't bad to base your opinion on a single reliable source, but in this case, the OP did not do that.

Not only did he ignore every other bit of evidence (a foolish and silly thing to do), but he ignored the very review that he cites! It gave the game a 9, at least, so I find it hard to justify his statements at "ignorant". "Misguided" or "assinine" feel more accurate.

Seems to me that most people here are more convinced of  9.5/10, 10/10 pre-release tests as of  more critical tests.
Such a blinded view can sometimes lead to great disappointment.

not a surprise really, everyones been saying this one is way more about the combat, and without the mako its clearly less about exploration

Well thats not necessarily a bad thing, did anyone else find exploring uncharted worlds in the Mako a tedious chore?
