Why does every topic get derailed like mad? I dont find this problem on most other forums. There isnt a single threat without IT, ending, EA, etc.

i'd be surprised if there is no announcement this year.

The VGAs aren't until December 7.

The broadcast is also three hours long now, apparently.

Mass Effect, BW, EA, or total VGA broadcast?

And how do you know this?

The total broadcast is three hours, it was announced the other day at Spike's PS4 event.

And there's still no confirmation that Mass Effect will be shown there - though some media articles say the VGAs were renamed VGX because it's focusing on next-gen games.

kk. The new name is stupid but I guess we'll see some new stuff so that's promising

I guess I'll post my list here too.

0 months, Oct 2005 - Mass Effect announced.
+25 months, Nov 2007 - Mass Effect released.
+16 months, Mar 2009 - Mass Effect 2 announced.
+10 months, Jan 2010 - Mass Effect 2 released.
+11 months, Dec 2010 - Mass Effect 3 announced.
+15 months, Mar 2012 - Mass Effect 3 released.
+21 months, Dec 2013 - Mass Effect 4 announced.
+15 months, Mar 2015 - Mass Effect 4 released.

For a development schedule, an announcement of Mass Effect 4 at the end of the year followed by a release just over a year later would be basically perfectly in-line with BioWare's release schedule so far.

It would also fit their MO of how reveals usually go: teaser announcement at the end of the year, private press demos for magazines (eg: Game Informer) for early next year coverage, mid-year E3 gameplay blow-out for the public, marketing machine for the next ~6 months including new trailers/details/magazine/website coverage, release late that year / early next year.

Based on fiscal calls, EA also doesn't have any known "big game" or "big franchise" formally announced for the early 2015 fiscal window. Logistically Mass Effect, one of the publisher's and (BioWare's) strongest franchises, would slot in nicely for that period.

I thought Bioware was going to announce IT reveal DLC first?

EVERY game Bioware makes from this point and onwards needs at least 2 years of development unlike the 1.5 years given to ME3 and DA2. That's just outrageous for games of such massive scope.

Montreal started MENext in June 2012, based on some staff tweets - if the release date is March 2015, that's practically three years in development.

(And depending on what type of game it is and how big an audience they're aiming for, I thought perhaps late 2015 could be possible too  - ME3 was initially aimed at October/November 2011, before it was delayed.)

I can semi-confirm that prototyping and other early stuff was in 2012*. That's about all I know though.

But yes, that would mean up to 3-3.5 years of development if ME4/Next comes out in 2015.

(*Take my word for it, sorry)

My bet is a VGX 2013 reveal. Late 2015 release.

So, has anything on this been confirmed yet? If nt I heavily doubt it is going to happen.

I doubt it will be confirmed. ME3 wasn't. It was just teased.

I dunno how interested i am to be honest, On one hand ME1 made the series for me and on the other hand i was majorly disappointed in ME3 way before the ending masked what was a mediocre game, I'll probably tune in to see what they reveal but by the time its out i feel Destiny will cater to my Space Opera fix.

Also with next-gen now in flow and these consoles easier too develop for maybe we'll see the next ME before 2015.......

oh. So now thanks to your doubt I can't have my doubt and will be disappointed or less surprised than I would have been otherwise.

They won't confirm it if it's happening. GameTrailers/Spike hasn't even started their trailer teasing period yet, which they usually do a week or so before the event screens. And that teasing usually amounts to stuff like "SECRET GAME FROM *insert company*", maybe some dodgy half-a-second trailer cuts with most info obscured, and so on. At the moment we don't actually know anything that will be there at all. If BioWare is there they may not even confirm the company, and instead just tease the announcement of a new big game in a popular franchise. Or tease nothing, and let it be a total surprise.

Yeah, that was in September 2012... so it's already had over a year of at least some form of development, probably closer to a year and a half.

(Though, I think the equation more dev time = more of the game ready is simplistic and problematic, given that we don't know how Bioware works internally, or much about game development, or what sort of work was actually being done since that date. By all accounts even wrangling with Frostbite has taken both the ME and DA teams a while to sort out.)

They already did.  They released it.  It was called "Leviathan".

You should check it out, it's really rather good.

Leviathan helped me a good bit in believing in IT/IT-ish stuff, while I was still on the fence during launch to EC. So there's that.

Omega had symbolic bits that helped a bit too.

But funny enough, Citadel DLC is me 'IT/IT-ish reveal' DLC. It's a long and complicated procress to describe why though, and it wasn't really 'IT' to me by that point.
