The name describes the genre, not particular match. It is cooperative multiplayer. What´s wrong with that?

CAUSE ITS FALSE ADVERTISING! its like buying a ferrari but getting a f35. Sure the f35 is great, but you don't want to fly and shoot, you want to DRIVE. My cousin thought it was multiplay, he bought it only 2 ind out it was CO-OP

Essentially co-op is just another form of mutiplayer.

I believe the term you're looking for is PVP, or player-vs-player. Multiplayer only implies that you will be able to link up with other people and play together. Both co-op and pvp are part of multiplayer.
