Since the majority of the gaming community is the heterosexual male, the decision on selecting the feminine model for a desire demon is an obvious one. Morrigan being the face of the first game probably also had the same reason.

We could certainly do it (personally I always wanted the Desire Demon to be androgynous, but that ship has long since sailed). Whether we would depends on whether we have a need for it somewhere-- if we're going to do a whole new model, I personally would rather have it be a new creature as opposed to an alternate version of a creature which already exists, but if there were a story-related reason as to why we needed it then by all means it could happen.

Just out of curiosity, how much influence do writers have on character and other designs anyway? I certainly can't tell for sure, but it seems that in other games like Planescape, you had to have obvious collaboration for 'This character uses a shape-changing blade' and other iconic items for the character that had story relevance.

There's collaboration, but final say with regards to how anything looks in the game rests with the Art department. So we'll offer input to the artists, and they'll take it into account, but when it comes to things which are purely aesthetic it's up to them to determine which direction best complies with the overall look they're going for.

XD I still remember the good ol' DA:O days when you got responses from writers all the time and from plenty of them. Can't really blame any dev for not wanting to come on a public forum though that can be hostile at about all times. I certainly don't think I would.

The Art department does some awesome work, but it's a shame sometimes when the writer's vision doesn't quite shine through. I personally think your designs for the Architect and Utha in the Calling were far better than they appeared in Awakening; more... corrupted, and less "simply bruised."  I did like how they dressed him though.

The desire demons needs a male counterpart, because demons don't have gender yet apparently all desire demons have decided that looking a hundred percent female is the way to tempt and allure all of Thedas.

It is fine if they only went for thing like promising power or wealth, but seduction is a very visual part of them, a part they obviously use it and thus should take into account those who lust for the male body.

Why should there be a female version?" Now... just to be clear, I'm not completely disagreeing with you, but if the resources were available would it be so bad to have a more balanced representation? What's wrong with a unigender entity? Nothing. What does it hurt? Nothing. But if you don't have the other side, and you can do more, create more... does it make sense to limit yourself to what's there only? If your answer was "yes" I doubt you'd be writing fanfiction or selecting anything but the default avatars for Shep, Hawke, and the Warden. Desire demons dont need a male counterpart, but the diversity wouldn't be unwelcome.

The only reason I can think of that there simply are no male appearance desire demons is that nobody in Thedas truly desires anything male; in fact every person that's ever existed only desires a female form that is amply buxom. At the very least, that's the inner desires of everyone we've seen encountering a desire demon whose been revealed. I find it a little hard to believe. 

I just realized I can't remember ever seeing an overtly female darkspawn aside from broodmothers. Is that actually true, or is that only what we've been able to see? Maybe they're set to guard the brood... nursery sites that are filled with multiple broodmothers under their watch.. stronger, faster, and tougher than the male soldiers that venture to the surface during a blight? ...and no, I don't mean Fluffy the Dancing Ogre.

I find it a bit depressing that the Art team think that a desire demon should be distinctively female.

Yes they are and I think that most people will agree if I say that the current Desire Demon is BW's spin off of the succubus.You can find some hyperlinks in the original post about the succubus and incubus if you wish to know more.

That be a pretty cool side quest that would involve them creeping through villages and having sex with villagers wives and killing them and  you have to find a who and how to stop them.

I don't think that's the way Desire Demons work ( at least the killing after intercourse part ). Now something like women disappearing while some of their husbands are found dead...something like that I think it could work.

it would "only" require an extra bit of art, the lore states the desire demons are capable of showing themselves as whatever they want to. bioware just went with a really cool standard. it would be neat for unique desire demons we might encounter but not neccesary, it's already in the lore and you just have to swear with the fact that it would take resources better used elswhere (hence quotations around only)

These types of questions are always pretty biased though since it's pretty rare for a person to go out of their way to say they don't want more content.

I've watched the voting progress from the beginning towards the end. After they reached 70/30 it pretty much stayed there until the last 2 or 3 days before polls became read-only.

I'm aware that 121 people represent only a fraction of the DA community and even less of the BW one, but I think that saying that 2/3 of the community would want or at least won't be against such an implementation isn't that far fetched

Of course, it's not my right to speak in their name and unfortunately we can't use polls anymore to see the communitiy's opinion on the discussed matter, so we can only assume .

If we're just going with 'won't be against', then alright, but I'm just saying that most people generally won't be against more content in the game.  If I put up a poll asking if people want one less model for enemies in the game, I'm pretty sure it'll mostly get 'no' across the poll.
