It just gets rather tiring seeing the super sexualized demons with big boobs and barely any clothing again and again.

Oh without a doubt. Had the desire demon initially been of male appearance, the argument would however still be the same.

Personally I'd have prefered that tehy went with a competely androgenous appearance. Imagine Slaanesh from Warhammer 40k/Fantasy. Only such an appearance would truly capture the perversion that is a Desire Demon.

Is Warhammer that good? I have been hearing about it a lot lately, and I am curious as to whether I should check it out.

If you liked Dragon Age you'll love Warhammer. It pioneered the grimdark fantasy we all love so much.

Just look at this map and tell me you don't want to know more about the world itself.

Aha, yeah it's a bit overwhelming but bookmark it for later when you know what's what and you'll love it.

The best Warhammer wiki I've found is the Lexicanum, good place to start because you can have a scran around for the political maps, factions and details without getting too lost. You could also download or buy the Warhammer fantasy rulebook for the main details. I did, but did admittedly skim through all the actual rules because I don't have any interest in the actual boardgame.

There's a metric fudgeton of novels out there as well, but they might be a bit overwhelming at first too although the Time of Legends series do go into the foundations of various factions in depth.

Holy f*ck. This is gonna take me a while. My jaw honestly hit the floor when I saw how many books there are. Maybe this will be a Christmas or Summer Project.

The books however are generally not that good, since Warhammer have been struggeling with having the writer's of the novels adhere to the lore established in the game's rulebooks.
However the books capture the feeling of the Warhammer universe quite brilliantly despite any lore discrepancies they may create.
The lore of Warhammer is so unfathomably huge, that it is hard to tell you where to start. My own entry point to the lore, was actually the rulebook of the tabletop game, because that gave me the perfect rundown of the universe and its workings. It pretty much covered every major faction and their relations to eachother. Granted I am also a collecter of the tabletop game, so I could use the remaining 400 pages of that book to something more than kindling aswell. ;)

Thank you for the advice. I will look into the tabletop rulebook.

Britain's greatest contribution to the world outwith evil empires, industrial revolutions and Judge Dredd ^_^

Oh, tell you what would make a magnificent starting point; Call of Warhammer. It's a mod for Medieval 2: Total War that transplants the world into Warhammer. Very well done, even if it is a bit odd that it was Russians that did it. Had no idea it was so popular over there!

Lol. It's funny how satyrs and centaurs have been recast as much more noble creatures in most fantasy settings. They used to just be horny rapists before. Lot of classical representations of them always featured them with...large active manhoods.

Same thing with vampires if you think about it.

The vampires of legend were grotesque evil corpse-like creatures. No one in medieval Europe would have thought a vampire was 'sexy,' and they were certainly far removed from the angsty good-guys of Twilight or True Blood. Somewhere along the line they got a serious makeover. Image IPB

On that note if the DA universe ever has vampires, I hope they're more like the vampires of legend.

I'm glad Bioware at least are taking things back to their nitty gritty roots. Where monsters are monstrous and mortal races do their best to match them.

We do actually have vampires. They are just hunger demons within a dead corpse I believe.

Vampires have had many, many different appearances. Even back in medieval times there were several different ideas as to how a vampire looked. From the czech Upir to the Romanian Strigoi, the Vampire mythos has had many different ideas as to what a Vampire is and looks like. Incidentally Warhammer encompasses all the major ones, in the form of different Vampire bloodlines, from the monstrous Strigoi, to the necrotic Necrachs, to the seductive Lahmias and more... Damn Warhammer rocks....

I will continue to be immune to the temptations of a Desire Demon until they make male Desire Demons as well. Also, can you imagine how awesome/hilarious it would be to see a male demon with a giant crotch bulge? Like, think of the final boss Lucifer in Dante's Inferno. It hung down to his knees... They showed it ALL xD

Something like that (but clothed, obviously for ratings) and slightly less monstrous would be awesome. Yeah. I didn't think I'd be thinking of well endowed demon men today.

Hm...maybe like the female desire demons have the nipple tassels, this demon could have wear some kind of large thong or codpiece that barely leaves anything to imagination.

:wub:My male Inquisitor would fall for that demon in a heartbeat.

If they have to redesign the Desire Demon it should be without any clear sex, it should be a mix of both. Completely androgenous. Desire demons are supposed to be perveted demons playing on our desires.

These Daemonettes fit a rough image of my idea. Something as simple as having distinct female features, yet speaking with an obviously male voice might work. Anything to make us feel uneasy around them. You are not supposed to feel attracted to a Desire Demon when you know what it is.

Yeah, that is a good point. If you are aware that it is a demon, then yes a Daemonettes form should be closer to the demon's true appearance. However, when you first encounter it, it should embody what a person desires, until a person can see through the ruse and break through the illusion.

Daemonettes actually take on a form that is inherently attractive to the beholder through the use of magic. They are different dependant upon who looks upon them. The form in this picture, is their true form, which is only shown once the person looking upon them, overcomes the enchantment they have cast upon him. Of course this is quite difficult to achieve in a video game. But basically having a Desire Demon try to decieve you into finding them attractive would be welcome, instead of them just going all "Horned naked babe" on you, and just hoping for the best.

I personally disagree. I think that desire demons work just fine being desirable even in their true form.

considering we are living in the age where "Sparkly" Vampires is all the rage i dont see how having an incubus wouldn't be out of the question.

Everything about Xil disturbs you guys, so this comes as no surprise.
The point of a desire demon is to have someone "desire" them, hence the name. So why is it so disturbing to find a desire demon attractive?

@eluvianix: Because a desire demon changes to the object of your desire...

Even if I were to desire women - I am certain, that I would not desire something so obviously malformed and repugnant as a desire demon's true form.

You know what. Let us just chalk it up to our own personal preferences and leave it at that. I have no desire to get in an argument with you over this.
