I am trying to get to the town of Ortan Thaig. I need to get my paws on some Deep Mushrooms and from what I understand, other than happen chancing them while adventuring, this is the only place to buy them. Any ideas how to get there from here?

You will need to enter Orzammar first, and then follow along with the main questline to unlock Ortan Thaig.

Mushrooms are a pretty common random drop, however. You should find plenty just from random crates and chests lying around.

If you're after the mushrooms for a certain quest, then don't head all the way to Ortan Thaig. Getting there is a long, involved process through the main Orzammar questline, which also is higher level than most of the others and so should be done later. Most merchants who sell crafting resources will sell a few mushrooms and you only need 10, so while the guy at Ortan thaig is the only infinite source, he's not the only source.

I need the deep mushrooms to create Injury Kits. Most of my team has been stomped on, picked up and flung around like rag dolls, they are kicked, battered and bruised. As a result, most have open wounds, bleeding, gaping wounds, crushed arms, cracked skulls and torn jugulars. Not sure if they will survive to tell their grand kids of their glorious adventures.

Injuries are automatically healed every time you go to the party camp.
Also Spirit Healer's cleansing aura will heal injuries as well.
Edit: and to repeat previous posters, trying to go to Ortan Thaig early on is a really bad idea. It is a long road crawling with creatures itching to bite your jugulars

Caradoc and Dainbramage, advice heeded. You can rest assured that I will not be traveling to Ortan no time soon.I am having enough troubles as it is.
As for the healing part, if I understand this, if I go to my Camp all of my ailments will be fixed? Broken bones, etc.?

Yup. All wounds fully healed.
Sometimes returning to camp simply isn't possible. Several missions will lock you in, so you will be unable to return to camp. So injury kits do still have their uses. But I wouldn't really use them unless your characters are too injured to fight effectively. Just bare in mind which stats are important to which characters (eg, an injury that effects Alistair's magic stat, or Morrigan's dexterity stat can be ignored).

There is a good chance that while you were replying I went over to the camp and discovered the answer. Thanks.Ferretinabun wrote...
