Do female actresses want to appear as "themselves" in a Bioware game again?

How telling that you yourself singled out her looks. I said it was because she's a hackneyed actress, ie she plays the same role in everything in addition to the cold hard fact that her popularity stems directly from the nerdgasms she induces in gamer males who see her as an object of desire; because everyone wants a quirky gamer girlfriend.

You know what's fun about the internet? That you can't lie about what you've previously said, since it's all saved. Observe:

If you're going to hire attractive actresses who've founded their careers on being cute, like Felicia Day, you might as well work her best aspects into the game.

Sex sells, as the old adage goes, and Felicia Day's career proves.

I'm sorry that common sense offended you so, but that's exactly what Felicia Day's whole spiel is. Cute nerdy chick.

Not to mention that, since I can already see your dodge being that all of those posts are reducing her to her looks, you're just pointing out what her spiel is, that even the underlined portion of the post I'm quoting just reduces her to her looks some more.

Radical feminists assuming everything is anti-female.

Nevermind then.

Find me laws forbidding women from earning the same as men then. Because iirc it's illegal to pay women less, and that would be duly noted by female employees and taken to court over.

Of course there is no law.
It's just a statistical fact, dude. Women get payed less on average.

Uhuh. So they get paid less on average...why? Because there are no laws enforcing that. Quite the reverse actually.

I don't know. Because patriarchy?
You are asking me as though I am responsible for women getting payed less.

I'm asking you to find solid proof that it's because of sexism that they're getting paid less. There's no laws forbidding them from earning more than men, while there do exist laws ensuring they get paid at least the same.

You're the one arguing that all women have to act like men to be equal. It's all too easy to imagine certain posters in this thread running around slapping girly magazine's out of women's hands screaming "No! Too girly!" before stuffing their hands with PC Gamer mags.

I argue that people should not be discrimated on based on the gender they choose to identify with.

I don't understand your analogy regarding "girly magazines" and PC Gamer.

Well done. That is indeed one of the core tenets of her career, and oddly enough the sole thing people seem to be focusing on. Her career basically revolves being the object of desire for gamer men, the "quirky nerdy girl" of their dreams (which she plays in every role she's in) and is objectification and degrading to women.

Then you should be on my side because that's exactly what I'm arguing. People should be free to be who they want to be, not what society wishes them to be and many in this thread feel that all women need to act and behave exactly like men to earn our respect because apparently gender is a social construct and women need to change.

Not that this is going to cure your embarrasing ignorance, but a basic google search easily does this (because of the absurd wealth of emprical studies proving this point). These are all literally randomly selected articles, many from Europe where the gender pay gap is not as great as in North America.

THIS THREAD IS GOING PLACES

Xand, since you are so hellbent on proof, can you provide proof of your claim that there are laws preventing women from getting paid less?
Do you deny that they get paid less?

Where exactly do you post that you've been getting hate mail for it anyway? I certainly haven't seen topics on Tallis here for about a month, and I don't believe I remember posts such as yours going around.

Thanks HiroVoid, I was being rather facetious on that point. What I meant is that I feel that in general there's a lot of people on the forum in general who are really active in their dislike of Tallis,. And while there's many very valid reasons not to like Tallis; I wanted to focus on the small, loud minority of people on this forum who really dislike Felicia Day for forcing their favorite media to "focus" on her when she joins them or that she slides by on her appearance and therefore shouldn't be in a Dragon Age game.

No problem.  If you were getting hate mail on reddit, tumblr, 4chan, etc. I can't say anything since I never visit any of those places.  As for the whole Tallis debate, I think a lot of the problems people have is more the fault of the writers, whoever's idea it was to make the DLC, and other problems.  Of course, if all you were looking for in the DLC was a fun, light-hearted romp with a Felicia Day character, it seems the type a person would enjoy.  As for the whole celebrity promotion, that again doesn't really seem to be the celebrity's fault as much as it is the marketing and advertising people who focus on that particular aspect in the first place.  My main problem with these types of appearances only tends to be when the character in particular sticks out like a sore thumb rather than fitting into the setting such as Veronica in FO:NV.

"People" aren't focusing on anything. No one mentioned anything about what the "core tenets" of her career where, or what it "revolves" around until you posted in this thread. In fact, just about the only person that went on and on about the "quirky nerdy girl" is you.

So, yes, someone is certainly objectifying women in this thread, but to see who you're going to need a mirror.

So what exactly is "solid proof" in the apparent evidence free zone that you live in? Because apparently "peer-reviewed empirical studies conduct across the world in the past 40 years" doesn't count, and since we've ruled out all of science, I'm curious.

I believe he's referring to the whole 'You can't act this way because it's too stereotypical and preventing our gender from becoming equal' argument that he believes many posters are standing behind.  .....not exactly sure how he's getting that vibe since I don't think I've read a post yet about that.
