@M25105: but you're perfectly fine with lesbians, right? Since you don't have problem with femshep having sex with female characters.
Regardless, Bioware isn't expressing the mindset that begin gay is super awesome. They're expressing the mindset that being gay isn't different than being hetero.

I didn't play femshep.

But you did find out that the content is present in the game. Doesn't that bother you?

No because (shockingly) you can buy BOTH. Or maybe that's just me. I'm so norty.

Especially considering there isn't an overflow of good RPGs out there anyway.

Nope, but chicks don't sodomize each other either.

Well, I'm male, but I'm pretty sure that what you said isn't necessarily true.

And sadly I figure you're representative of not insignificant chunk of them. But that's hegemony for you.

No, I don't think so, unless of course, they decide to release them on the same day, which of course, won't happen [man, I still laugh at the fact that the sub-par port of Fable 3 was released on the same day as Witcher 2]. In any case, I will buy both - no reason for me to restrict myself to Bioware style RPGs [which, I think we all agree, are becoming less and less RPG and more, and more like adventure games with dialogue and romances].

Got to say, though, I love this kind of threads. I luv them <3. Give me more Plaintiffs, Davids, Seivals and the likes so I can giggle like an idiot reading their incoherent, verbal diarrhea.

I don't think it's a zero sum game. If Witcher 3 is a success, then I'd think people are more likely to want to buy a fantasy RPG game, not less.

People love competition, they love to pit things against one another. A few years back it was Infamous vs Prototype (Infamous appears to have won by the way) before that it was Coke vs Pepsi, Chevy vs Ford...and on...and on...

That would actually make him more likeable :wizard:

And that for me is the Witcher's biggest problem, IMO Geralt is completely unlikeable, i feel more connected to Pacman than to him and i cant force myself to play a game where i hope the protagonist is brutally murdered.
So yeah, for me TW3 is not only not competition for DAI, its not competition even for Tetris

Tetris and Pacman have no competition as they are the best.

Your idea of a badass and CDPR's idea of a badass might not be shared by everyone, which is why i said IMO

I'm not a big fan of The Witcher series. The first one was... well... painfull. And I just couldnt get into the second game, I tried hard 3 times, not possible for me. The only thing The Witcher 2 had going was the visual graphics if you stood still and looked over an area.

But I'm horribly biased, since Dragon Age is my favorite fantasy setting I know of.

On the other hand I have a polish friend who grew up with the books, the same way i grew up with Lord of the Rings. And he absolutely loves both Dragon Age and The Witcher to death.

Competing? The gaming world is strange.

Consoles selling like ice in the Sahara. And games like Call of Duty being one of the biggest franchises in gaming. So how and why people are buying and playing certain games are beyond me.

I would say that they shouldnt be competing, simply because they have their fan base. But since we live in a very strange marketing consumer world, they probably will... Or atleast think they are competing. Kind of like Call of Duty and Battlefield, they have their own fanbase. And i doubt they are really competing, even though they think they are.

But I dont have a degree in economics, so who am i to speculate? :)

I have a hunch that we will see the reveal trailer for FallOut 4 at the VGA's with a release date for fall 2014, if I am right that means both DAI and the Witcher 3 will have huge competition, best fall ever for RPG fans, but competition none the less.

Depends....

But then again, unless TW3 has NG+ I might not buy it (I bought TW2 solely because a friend told me that the EE had NG+)

Slightly off topic, but still on the Witcher....

Is there a reason to support Iorveth over Roche before the assassin kidnaps Triss?

Iorveths path is more for those who want equality for the other races and its at least less depressing than Roche path.

What does having different fan base have anything to do with being competitors? They represent the same genre, are being released in the same year, and are being made for the same platforms except for PS3 and X360. That's more than enough reason for them to compete, in my opinion.
