Dragon Age isn't a dating sim nor is it a place to push your real life issues into a media that literally no one else care's about because everyone has their own unique story.
Everyone does have their own unique story. The difference is that only heterosexuals get theirs told.
I don't want a game about my normal life, that would be supremely boring. I want to be like Conan the Barbarian, or James Bond. I just also want to be gay while I am playing these characters.Second, if you play games to live out your normal life, go live your normal life.
Why do you assume that this would be my goal in purchasing Dragon Age?You aren't making a statement. You aren't representing your minority. You aren't convincing anyone to do anything.
I don't play games to be a social activist, I play them because I like them, and I like them a whole lot more when they feature gay characters being as badass as straight ones get to be all the time. You are sitting at home, in front of a TV, wasting time when you can be out in the real world doing these things were people actually look.
I'm not asking Dragon Age to represent homosexuals, I'm not asking Dragon Age to do anything except keep up the good work.Third, Dragon Age doesn't represent homosexuals. Where this reasoning came from, I don't know, but I recommend a return to sender and that you file a complaint.
What I like about Dragon Age is that instead of playing as and hanging out with 'gay characters', I can play and talk to awesome, well-developed characters who just happen to be gay.
It has everything to do with my personal enjoyment, which is all I really care about when I'm playing a game.Fourth, status quo? What does RPing a gay character in a video game have to do with anything?
If you think I give even half a crap about the kinds of protagonists that other people like to play, congratulations on completely missing the point. Will this encourage people to force more gay protagonist because, completely disregarding the rest of their fanbase for the marginally few who only play their games to be gay? Really?

Nononon... you cannot say the only true way to decide about TW3 and DA3 is between cinematic trailers of DA2 and TW2! You should have linked DA3 and TW3 trailers! =)
I am sure TW3 will be the one of the most amazing games I'm to play. I loved TW and TW2 even more. The Witcher 3 trailer caused me such an anxiety state that I cannot easily describe.
And I hope that Bioware will go back to basics and deliver another awesome RPG with DA3:I. They know how to do it. They were just too lazy to do it in DA2. (or too rushed by their not-so-new-now owners). Dragon Age: Origins is still one of my favorite games and certainly one that I've played the most with over 20 chars and 2,000 hours dedicated to it. I'll still have more runs with it too!
So, here are some links:

Gotta say, that "killing monsters" line was pretty epic.
Not very grey (in fact that whole trailer portrays Geralt with very traditional morality), but epic nonetheless.

What does RPing a gay character in a video game have to do with anything? It has to do with alowing people who want to play as gay characters the ability to do so...I'm not sure what's complicated about this. It's not a matter of pushing a political agenda, it's a matter of giving your players more options.
I think you're mistaking equality with a pie chart. Just because one minority group gets more exposure or rights doesn't mean the rights and exposure of the majority goes away. Don't worry, you will still get your white straight protagonists even if companies like Bioware include gay characters.

lol first of all, you don't need to come at a plate of whipped cream with a suit of armor on. Relax a little bit and don't take this stuff personally.
Secondly, why do you care if someone wants to buy a game just because they can be gay in it?

To answer the question, you should play a game for it's story. Not the sexuality of the characters in it. I don't play games because they respresent me or my social groups or class. If it has a sh*t story it's not worth playing no matter how many people do what with other people in it. If there were a game, and everybody was a companion cube, and all they did was hum, would you play it, simply because you could be gay in it? If being gay in a game is inmportant enough were it's the only reason that you purchase a product, you are really wasting your time. More than time is wasted just playing the game in general.

Did you know that in Scotland we often make a point of pronouncing the wh in words like whipped and why, Family Guy style.

That is how you want it to be played. Everyone play games differently. It is their game and as long as they enjoy how they play it, it's their freedom. If you feel is wasting time playing as gay you would not play one. But limiting others just because you feel is wasting time is selfish.
Ps. I'm not gay and i don't play gay characters. But i'm not biased to not allow others the way they want to play it even i felt it's time wasting for me.

Doesn't that fall into the dreaded "broadening it's appeal rather than making a good game" category that so many seem to fear? Accessibility is apparently a terrible curse.

Clearly you care since you brought it up and keep trying to police why everyobody else plays their games.
So I'll say it again in a more broad sense, why do you care why other people choose to play their games? You said it "should" be because it has a good story, but what if someone, heaven forbid, has a difference of opinion from yours and doesn't care as much about the story? What if someone told you "You should play a game because it has really good multiplayer"? They're not wrong, it's just their opinions and it's different from yours.
Someone wanting to play a game because they have the choice to make a gay character is just as valid as someone wanting to play a game because of the story or the multiplayer or the design, etc.
Opinions! How do they work?!

Actually I didn't bring it up. Now, you can actually read what I said, instead of picking at bits and pieces of it. I did not say that one should not buy a game because they want to make gay characters, I said that it should not be the only reason. Finally, you can try to tell me what I care about, but quite frankly, i really don't care. Me discussing something does not mean that I have feelings one way or the other on how you waste your money. What you do has not impact on me in any single way, and even if it did you or how you feel is completely irrelevant to me, as is your existence. That does not stop anyone from having a conversation. To say that it does is fallicous.Ailith430 wrote...
