Edit....Top.  Schluuurp.

As an idea.

Leviathan. 'Tribute does not flow from a dead race". No it doesnt, but sacrifice is historicaly a tribute to the gods, and lets face it there is a s..t tonne of blood flowing from the 'citadel' processing areas when shep arrives there. Victory through sacrifice.......seems legit.

So lets say Leviathan is not in hiding. It is watching the reapers gather tributes. The best one of each cycle immortalised in the form of a new sovereign class reaper. A tribute to their masters.  The genetic memory of an entire race.

Human slusho on the citadel (as well as collector base). Yep we are boned.

So how do races get to become worthy of 'ASSENSION'? Well the technology is all there. Left behind by Leviathan for the younger races. Maybe Leviathan got bored of doing the donkey work and so created machines to do it for them, one of the leviathan becoming a reaper to control the cycles?

So is it a race to become the race to become the next blood tribute to leviathan?

Now these would be excellent endings that are very different and I think would have satisfied most players!

The IT fans thought their idea would have been popular too. They were wrong.

The crucible is a cheap and convenient plot device created to move the story forward, since ME2 failed to. It just exists, because the writers demand it.

Fair comment, AlanC9, but IT only offered two endings. Indoctrinated Shep or waking up in London without a proper ending, which really isn't an ending.
All I'm saying is that these are at least 4 very different endings or consequences. And we were promised DIFFERENT endings, not minor variations.

I just also want to ask dorktainian, if the reapers are doing what the Leviathan want at the moment with the sacrifice, why would the reapers be hunting them and why was the AI still looking for an answer?

I'm seriously starting to come round to N7Gold's theory on Synth ending.

N7Gold says..

The Catalyst decided that the only way to stop the conflict is to make
peace between the organics and their creations, while at the same time,
"ESTABLISHING A CONNECTION" between them and the Leviathans so the
Leviathans will have a new way of controlling organics, rendering their
crystal balls obsolete. Synthetics will also be controllable to the
Leviathans.

That is what Synthesis does. It connects all organic
and synthetics in the galaxy with a special DNA, turning them into
living "Quantum Entanglement Communicator" devices for the Leviathans to
use. In this way, they will have full control of the galaxy again, a galaxy with billions of worlds in one fell swoop.

Since Mass Effect has already established that organic Quantum Entanglement is used by Rachini as a means of communication and by the Leviathan to enthrall the 'lower races' without eroding the mind, then it stands to reason that the Synth beam would be an amplification signal that perminently stimulates the 'reception' part of out brains, allowing us to be controlled. It creates the 'connection' and puts us in an natural state of indoctrination as opposed to a forced state from the reapers. This could be seen as the enevitable evolution that the Catalyst refered to while describing Synthesis as an organic race has already developed this. No more space magic, instead an explanation that doesn't break the laws of the ME universe. :wizard:

This was one major reason why I consistently rejected the Synthesis ending. While it also plugs the Leviathans into the network, it really screws over social and cultural development and is the most 'Disney-like' of the endings with everything being all sunshine and rainbows except for the fact that everyone has new cosmic overlords.

Yes, I said 'Disney-like'. As in utopian, happily ever after.

And I'm saying your idea would have been hated just as much as regular IT.  Deception Theory is an IT variant that works exactly like your idea in this regard, and it was no more popular than Original Flavor IT.

There's not been a lot of hate going on in this thread, just discussion and an exchange of ideas, some of which have been fun and others thought provoking. People who don't want to discuss the subject has left it alone (to which I am grateful) and those that do have been very welcome and I have appreciated their comments. I have got what I wanted out of all this.

Thank you N7Gold. You have changed my endings. But I'm now very scared of the people who picked the Synth option....:crying:

I am in tears, man... Image IPB  you're welcome... Image IPB I can't just let these endings ruin BioWare's rep, the extended cut and Leviathan DLC gave us more puzzle pieces to put together, and I just had to put my thoughts in here to see what other people would think.

Your post touched me the most. I'm surprised you remember that the Leviathan DLC revealed that the ability to entangle particles in the brain to communicate is something the Rachni Queen and the Leviathans can do. Also, that woman, Ann said that the Leviathans use those crystal ball looking things to "establish a connection" to anyone near the balls so they can control them from wherever they are hiding. And the Catalyst said that he was created to oversee the relations of synthetic and organic life, and also to "establish a connection". That isn't coincidence, is it??? Image IPB
