I'm curious about what other men have to say, for a couple reasons. 1. I'm a guy who prefers to play as a female. I want to say because it's different. We've had male PC's shoved down our collective throats for decades. When they introduced more female options over the years, I found myself more inclined to play those. 2. A number of my buddies agree that they prefer to opt for a female hero.

But, ladies, by all means voice your preferences too. Tell me, do you think the gaming industry could do more to include women? I do. Beyond that, and more on topic with the forum, do you think Inquisition will offer balanced options between the sexes? Options in terms of flirts, romance, armor, CC, and so forth?

I was appalled at the imbalance of LI options in the Mass Effect series. It really catered to us guys. Anyone who denies that is delusional.

I usually try both, and if I replay anymore go with the one that felt better. BW indeed seems to take more interest for male PCs, at least where romances are concerned, female LIs (and plot arch if there´s one) are usually far better. DA2 was quite the offender, with both guys being variations of the dark, dangerous, aloof guy. For some reason most times they go for a good person it results in a rather boring character (Alistair excluded).

I don't care as long as there is an option to choose. I have characters of both genders, I got tired of the generic white male leads, so even though I play different combinations (white male inlcuded) I don't buy the games that do not provide me with the option to customize.
Don't care about romances much.

I'm a guy happy to play as - and romance - either gender. The only reason I didn't like a female Hawke was the bizarre running animation she has.

There is still a palpable amount of sexism in the industry, Bioware games included. But their RPG's are relatively impressively gender-balanced, and I'm happy to play either way.

I like penises, so men.

Penises? Is that right? Penii?

Anyway, I have no problem playing games with set chick protagonists, but I usually play as a man when I have a choice.

Only as a straight male, absolutely cannot play as the other gender, or try anything outside of a typical straight relationship. Freaks me out.

I tried playing as female in a few MMOs and games like this, just can't do it.

Need the why not both .jpg.

That said DAO I felt more fun as a woman and DA2 as a man. DAI I really hope is more fun as a female. Please let the female VA not suck. PLEASE.

The running animation didn't bother me too much, but I thought it was a little off-putting that because she's FemHawke, then her hips *must* sexily sway as she runs. Why was that necessary? Seemed sexist to me. Women don't run like that, by definition.

Understood. I avoid MMO's. Too many desperate losers try to flirt with my fem avatar. It's ridiculous, no matter what gender I am.

It is rather strange, I  generally sort of scared of people who say this, but your choice, I guess.

That's weird, how's it strange or scary?

And it's not a choice, it's the way I am.

How fun they are depends on the character I choose and how much the story/game lets me flesh out that character. I don't have a preference between the two.

Male. I couldn't ever get into FemShep because the voice was just..wooden. Yes, I'm in the minority with that opinion online, I know.

I used to play only male leads even when there was an option, but that was mostly when I played characters that were by and large avatars of myself. I still did when I started actually role playing created personas, but gradually I shifted over to playing female characters.

Mostly, its because I stretch my gaming across a number of genres. Most of those genres feature male protagonists 90% of the time. The change of pace was nice. That's the main reason, but I will admit I take certain guilty enjoyment out of trying to create a female face that fits the character I have in mind, though I've never had as much interest in crafting the male faces. I don't know why. It strikes me as a little creepy when I think about, so I don't.

Female and gay. Always. (97% of games have dude protagonists in them, so)
As for LI's if you play a female and are gay/bi/straight or male gay, you pretty much get ignored from Bioware. (except DA2 which, compared to DAO and Mass Effect's ridiculous amount of straight LIs, did good in this department. Even though DAO wasn't as bad as Mass Effect)

I do hope there are enough options in DAI when it comes to LI's.

Can't really connect to the female characters, so male. Still, I don't have a problem in playing games where there is a single character and that character is female ( Blood Rain for exemple ), but in RPG's where I can create my character - always male.

Strange, because something is making you unable to relate to people of different gender/orientation from yours. Is it such a big thing, that you can't look past it? That you can’t even imagine a main character not being like you?

Scary, because it makes me suspect that you do not perceive these people in the same light as you do the people of your own gender/orientation. The ability to relate/imagine yourself being the other person is the base of all human relationship, it makes me think you are unable to maintain normal  relationships with these groups of people.

And I do think it is a choice, because if it is not, it's even more scary then I  first thought. (Not like it matters anyways, the things random people like me say on the internets, anyways)

Sure, no one. I just stated my opinion on people who can't relate. Nothing more, nothing less. What would they loose, the possibility of having me as a friend?  Such a horrible world shuttering loss...:whistle:B)
