I hate it and I don't exactly know why but it'll have something to do with all the globalist propaganda it'll have.

What propaganda exactly? :)

I found it just the opposite... :wizard:

I'm looking forward to knowing more about the plot and characters. I'm excited for another ME game... and it's Bioware who only broke my heart once. So, I'll buy it.

No. I'd feel somewhat better if Mac Walters wasn't involved with writing the plot and Drew was back. After ME3 I'm not getting my hopes up and I'll wait to see what the general consensus is about it after release.

Too soon on anything.

I wouldn't judge until I got much more info.

Honestly both Drew and Mac are only so-so. Drew did write better plots but he also reused a lot of ideas for his games. There's no way Drew is coming back. I just don't see it happening. I do hope we get an entirely new writer though, as long as his name isn't william c. dietz.

I'm cautiously optimistic. If certain conditions are met, I'll pre-order a collector's edition. And it will probably be the game I have to buy a next gen system for. Nothing I've seen so far has me interested but this new ME might do it.

If it's not a first person shooter.
If it's not a prequel.
If it's not some kind of MMO.

I'm also weary of the trilogy. Don't get me wrong, I love it with all of its problems, warts and all. But, I'd like to see all new aliens, all new architecture, ships, weapons, etc. I guess I'm saying make it new but still Mass Effect. Is that even possible? I don't know, but that's what I want.

If I see Mac Walters as a lead writer, I will pre-order ME4 at once.

Oooohh oooh me they are using the FB3 engine and they have talent from both kingdoms of amalur and gears of war. I can't wait to see what they do.

100% positive!

ME1 was good, ME2 was great, ME3 was almost great - had too much action but bloody good action.

I love the ME universe and want to be more in it! Prequel or sequel. If the latter I do hope that Shepherd is retired. He was awesome, but he needs a rest.

You should have put a poll - I'm sur eyou'd get 90% Yes!

Yes, they did make me a lot happier when I saw the picture of what I think is Saren. If that is the case then I will buy ME4. If it is a MMO game I won't touch it on single player.

I think they are finally coming to their senses and adopting a good story line, it's just a feeling.

I'm not sure how to feel about it.

On the one hand I love the Mass Effect universe, and the first three games are among my favorite video games of all time. On the other hand I'm not that interested in an alternate universe or prequel setting, either one of which is looking more likely than a sequel at this point.

I guess that puts me in the 'wait and see' group.

I really hope it's no prequel, instead 10-20 years after ME Trilogy where a new central plot may develop.I also hope to be able to play as the main council races (turian, salarian, asari)

They should just make the high EMS destroy ending canon. It's the most appropriate one imo.
Krogan genophage cured, quarian geth peace,or geth victory, quarians not with the fleet on pilgriamge survive and continue the species, nothing really important on asari or turians,i guess.

I'd love to see a sequel, but Mac Walters said the next game will have no connection to the 'Shepard events.' That would be an impossibility for a sequel, so assuming that Mac didn't just roll with a poor choice of words, it means the next game is either going to be a prequel, alternate universe, or on the same timeline but set in a different galaxy.

A prequel would be exceedingly irritating unless it was set far enough back that there were no humans at all, in which case it might be sort of interesting. Alternate universe might be best.

*If* they go with a prequel, I hope it is set sometime between 900 A.D. and the First Contact War. That is the only place in the timeline where you have nearly all the factions present (minus humanity) and where there isn't already a major canon event like the Krogan Rebellions or the Rachni Wars. That would be the only place where they could set a prequel and still give the player character as much freedom as the first three games.

That being said I somehow doubt Bioware would create a Mass Effect game that doesn't have human characters, so we are probably either looking at the First Contact War (boring!) or a game that is either set in a different galaxy or an alternate universe.

Quite so, OP. ME's storytelling and cinematic presentation got better with each game, so ME4 should be a feast.

For once in a long time, I am starting to feel a little more cheery about ME4 even though I know nothing about it.The pics Bioware released almost a week ago kind of gave me the final push to step out ME3 depression zone. Before that I had no relevant interest in ME4. I was fully convinced that it was to be a prequel that would not really matter considering the pending Reaper invasion, or a spin-off about the cheesy adventures of Garrus or Aria. Even though I still fear the possible announcement of a prequel being announced. I can happily say I no longer feel bitter about ME in general.

I can't say the same. ME3 managed to destroy (figuratively) half a dozen things I liked about this universe or its characters and bombarded me with half a dozen thematic messages I detest without any chance for me to tweak them into less detestable ones by making decisions. So in my mind, ME is now firmly associated with "stories I don't want to read, watch or play".

So unless the next game does a significant theme shift away from ME3's traditionalism and the mysticism in its ending, I won't be interested, and since I blame the project lead for those developments I hated I remain skeptical as long as Casey Hudson is at the helm.

Edit:
This has nothing to do with "bad writing" or any other more or less objective criticisms I could level at ME3. With ME3, ME just turned from a story I was curious about featuring a protagonist I could tweak into one I identified with, into a story I dislike featuring a protagonist with traits I disliked forced on them. Autodialogue and heavy-handed thematic messaging ruined ME for me rather than the ending, which - in the EC version - was rather the reason why I could leave ME behind with any good feelings left at all. In my mission-by-mission review, I said I feel betrayed by ME3 on three counts. That has not changed. There are possible permutations of the ME universe I would like to visit, but for now it's better for my peace of mind if I just walk away.

There are pictures released? (Looks up) Oh. That's as exciting as them saying "We're working on it." Duh. I was disappointed the workroom has all that lovely in-game art and yet has a boring N7 logo screensaver.

Bioware's characters and ME's world trumps my undying hate of the 3rd game's ending. This and Witcher 3 are about the only things I'm interested so far for next-gen.

I hope if there is an honest to goodness multiplayer game we get to keep all our little unlocked MP challenge pictures. Those were nice, and took some time.

Uh, yes. I'm excited. The ending left me somewhat jaded but I love the universe they created and I'm eager to go back.
