Is anyone feeling the slightest bit of positivity about ME4?

I can't really be excited about something until I have more information. I saw the pictures, but... I was still skeptical about DA:I when I first saw those pictures as well :P And now I'm super excited about it.

I love the trilogy, and while the endings upset me at first. They don't anymore, the DLC content and EC really fleshed it out. So I'm optimistic at best.

Well, a reboot would be the only thing that would prevent me from being interested in the next ME.

Bioware, please canonize an ending to ME3 and roll with it. The upset whiners will still buy it irregardless.

EDIT: The concept art looks awesome.

Damn bro, tell us how you really feel, lol. That was pretty funny. Ha.

Hey BioWare, this dude ain't to happy with you.

It's alright, for what it's worth I'm in the same boat. Only the MP interests me, and even then, I'm still kinda like meh.

Can't understand why people put ME1 and ME2 in the same league. ME2 did not have the soul ME1 had in my opinion.

ME2 and ME3 are about equal in that regard as far as I am concerned. They are both more soulless than ME1, but they are still good games.

I just don't agree that ME2 was the perfect continuation of ME1, no matter what it's defenders claim.

I hope ME4 bring back some of the positive elements from 2 and 3, as well as some of the "soul" only one game in the series contained: ME1.

You see this even in trilogies of novels sometimes. The initial sense of discovery, the wonder of flying around, the mood, the music, all of it fades between releases.

I played both ME 1 and 2 this long weekend, and if you just keep playing the only real change is the inventory system, the story just grows. I only did the missions that carried over to the next game in ME1 though, so I didn't drive around every planet looking for the last Matriarch writing or Turian symbol or a bunch of other missions that don't roll forward.

Is it a perfect continuation? No, it is tighter, there is a timeline thrown at you here that doesn't exist in ME1. It doesn't really raise the sense of urgency as they probably felt it would, it just raises the level of annoyance because you've lost a fair bit of freedom.

In ME3 the main thing that threw me out were the Reaper ships when I went to go scan systems. I get why they fit thematically, and that they were to show the level of danger, but damn, it was annoying instead of fun, at least for me.

You might bring back the soul of ME1 in ME4 because it will be a whole new chapter, the beginning of a new journey, and that will help a lot.

I don't know. I still think ME
3>2>1, and if the next takes place after Shepard's story, it may be even better, but I don't think we are finding out until next year, and don't trust this source, but now that I have read it I can't help but be hyped for it even though I doubt it's true.

I won't be the first one to admit that ME1's story is leagues ahead of both ME2's main plot line in terms of story telling, suspense, and narrative cohesion. But ME2, despite it's major flaws, different style, tone, and feel; and changed combat, level, and item mechanics still has the same soul. The care taken towards the ambience, music, tone, level details, and bits of text and dialogue does more to establish a different feeling for each planet or zone than any of the first game's massive landscapes. ME1 established that the galaxy was large and mysterious, but ultimately sterile, it is ME2's reduction of scale to a more personal level that creates a better setting. Personally, that is what puts the second title ahead of the first game, despite the fact that ME2 has major flaws; while ME1 has none (except for the combat mechanics maybe? it bothers me that Shepard can fairly easily become practically invincible in the first game while firing a gun indefinately).

I only played ME for the Campaign so if I can't enjoy the campaign then I'm not sure I can use MP as a reason to play it.
If ME4 is a good game I will buy it but I will not hold it in the same light I held previous ME games before they were released.

No prequel.
No more Shepard.
No crew members side stories.

Something fresh and a cannon ending to me3. Whatever it is.

And there just might be hope. Yes i'll buy it. As someone said, Bioware only broke my heart once so far.

You make it so difficult for me to like you, EA.

We don't have to like the same things, Arc :P

Most of the people on my friends list, like you, disliked ME3. Some hated it.

Yes but you also like FF13, which is so confusing that my sense of left and right has been permanently scrambled.

Feeling positive? A bit. Mostly I'm looking at it and going "What are they going to horrendously **** up and how?"

I'd like to feel more positive, but at the moment, I have the nagging suspicion that this is going to feel more like a cash grab to milk what's left of the franchise before it's put to rest for good. I suppose I'll have to reserve judgment until the details are out, but if it turns out to be a sidequel or a prequel, then I can pretty much consider it DOA.

ME2 is a good game, and with the DLC, it is a lot better. I still do not agree it had the same "Soul" ME1 had, but I do agree it had some. I also don't think ME1 is flawless. The planets could be annoyingly open sometimes, and the side quests could really "bog one down".

But I agree with what an previous poster said; ME4 may have the sense of newness and discovery which is lacking the sequels.

I guess it's okay that they're leaving Shepard. (It's probably, eh, for the best.)
I hope for no more writer's pet.

No, I'll not fall for the hype.

I'll need something more concrete to base my opinions on, rather than a few blurry pics and devs nauseatingly patting each other on the back on social media.

I might if I stopped reading these awful "Foundation" comics.
I have no idea why I keep doing this to myself.

Also, there were pictures?

Am I excited for the Upcoming Mass Effect? Yes and no. I loved 2 and 3. Yeah the ending of 3 was kinda meh, but I still loved it. Maybe because I am not deeply invested in an emotional level with any of the characters. Seeing Shep get blown up at the very end after destroying the reapers, I liked it. Made me feel like I was give my life to make the universe a safer place for not just this cycle but the next cycles to come. Heck I got to witness the legend of Shep 1st hand.

If the next Mass Effect is set in the future with new some new races and some old ones, if the next Mass Effect has next to nothing to do with Shep's Trilogy, and if it has a Multiplayer mode I will be excited for it.

If there is a multiplayer in the next ME,I hope they remove the stupid lottery system to get upgrades, weapons, and characters
