I do find that rather amusing, that you recruit Dwyn for the purpose of having him fight with the Militia to bolster their morale so they know there's a seasoned veteran fighting alongside them and....he goes up to fight with the even more seasoned veterans, the knights.

Odd, Dwyn stayed down with the malitia for all 3 play throughs for me.

I managed to save everyone (including nameless NPC's) and got a helmet in return. Problem is, most (if not all) helmets in this game look crap ugly, so I sold it to the next merchant I encountered.

I did this on Nightmare (Plus) by the way. Achieving this simply involves setting all partymembers to use health paultices at < 50% health, pausing after every action (each 2 to 3 seconds) and keeping control of your mage for magicmanagement and healing every non-party NPC you see below 50% health.

Mine was a damn catastrophe. Ser Perth and his knights survived, but everyone down in the village proper was killed. At least we made it through in one go, no reloads.

Same for me m8, did it the first time but the poor old mayor was pwned

For me, Dwyn and his thugs stayed hidden up amongst the knights. Actually, that part of the battle was too easy, (On normal at least) I'd have liked to have sent the knights, Dwyn and Berwick all down to the village and fought the top section on my own. On most attempts at the lower part, everybody died - except for me. It took dropping to easy, and going to Denerim for some odd jobs first to get most the named NPC's to survive. Lloyd though, always dies. Very tragic. As do most the red-shirt militia.

For me Dwyn & Murdock died and all the others survived. Naturally, that angered me so I executed them.

All the militiamen were wiped out at every trial. Just a question: when did you go to RedCliffe? Just after Lothering or well after? I'd like to know because Redcliffe seems to be more than one notch harder than Lothering. Perhaps, is it wise to visit some other places before.

What do you think?

I've yet to have a game (2 full playthroughs, 1 more past Redcliffe and working another towards it) that HASN'T had Murdock die, but I always keep everyone else alive. My next toon I am hugging that bastard to make sure he doesn't die.

I thought Tomas was joking when he said "Where are you going!? If you leave, we may be dead...!" So I went to camp, made love to Morrigan for the achievement, came back and everyone was dead... stuck in the Courtyard of Redcliffe castle at the moment. Does defending the town make the castle siege easier?

Huh, I liked the helm you get for that.. it isn't all squareish and doesn't cover your face so I think it looks kind of nice, stats weren't that bad either as I recall? And I also went to camp to buy stuff and came back, but the town was still pre-battle. Maybe your lovemaking took all night :S

Also, I don't know about the rest of the castle, but if you defend the town successfully you can get the knights to assist you once you get to the courtyard. They help if you're having trouble with it.

I did this on Hard. I even saved all the no named militia.

Oddly, I still got the burning boats in the lake cutscene even though during the celebration they said not a single person died. Course, the chantry mother also gave a prayer for all those undeparted departed souls.

Did this on my 4 warrior run. Mostly by spamming taunts to keep enemies off the NPCs for the village fight. Since 3 of my party had taunt (and I believe everyone had threaten) it wasn't hard to keep aggro on my party. Unfortunately I didn't seem to hardsave it nearby to see if I could do it again.

I imagine the burning boats and the mother's prayer are for the people who died BEFORE you arrived.

The fire wall is EXTREEMLY usefull.

Use pinning shot, winter grasp, cone of cold or mind blast when the undead are walking trough it and watch them burn. It kills them really fast.

I only lost 1 of the thugs (kept trying to get down the hill too early, lol) but got the Helm anyway. The village only seems to care about the people in front of the Chantry apparently. A crapload of pausing, checking health, Taunt spam, and CC.  And yeah, Murdock has like no constitution at all :P  Wynne used nearly every healing cooldown on him.  Lloyd was far more healthy.Image IPBImage IPB
