 Hey there. I'm looking for an action server. I prefer one that allows you to change your alignment easily! I'm looking for hard core boss battles and a decent challenge, and a good playerbase.

Higher Ground, The Awakening, or Legion of Darkstar would likely be your best bets if you want an action server with "decent challenge." I put challenge in quotes because, in my experience, the "challenge" was mainly either grinding through hundreds of trash mobs or having the right immunities to win the fight. Your mileage may vary.

I think you'd enjoy it -- but obviously it's both single player and not a persistent world.

Try Realms of Jova! Alignment changer located right in the tavern. And no silly character restrictions. (I personally have  a monk / paladin / blackguard)

Thanks for the mention, MagicalMaster. Higher Ground is definitely what you're looking for. We've been the top-rated action server for the last 8 years, and have serious challenge, and some serious boss battles, including some well known NPCs from PnP lore, like the 9 Dukes of Hell, Pelor (in Elysium), aboleths in the Far Realm, Illithids in Penumbra, 5 Archdemons of the Abyss (Grazzt, Demogorgon, Juiblex, Orcus, and Obox-ob), and coming soon, the Elder Evils, starting with Father Llymic. Also tons of dragons, liches/archliches, and the like, and a wide assortment of other bosses, like the king of the myconids, a ruler of a locathah tribe, a dracolich, and many, many more. Next up in our development cycle is Limbo, an area for levels 61-65, and featuring both major Slaad Lords (Death/Entropy and Insanity), as well as the head monast in a Gith monastery.

Hi Kingdom of Hearts. If you are looking for an action server, with epic battles against epic bosses, then you could try our server Legion of Darkstar. It is currently down as I type this, as our host is fixing a router problem, but it will be back up shortly. If you like to set a goal for your character, then you would enjoy our main quest. It features numerous boss battles, with plenty of challenge for all skill levels. We also have dozens and dozens of stand alone quests, and our drow main quest, which is still being built, but it will offer many challenges. Of course there are some nasty puzzles to challenge your brain as well.

We also have free crafting, appearance changes, subraces, alignment changes, relevels, xp banking, and much more. All of this is free. Well, the xp banking will remove 10%, but there are no gold charges.

Our player base has its peaks and valleys, but there are still times when there is a good party run happening. We are still continuing development, and as always, new players are most welcome.

Since action is also my cup of tea, I suggest you to definitely try the already mentioned Higher Grounds. Its richest in features amongs action worlds and truly epic. If you are rather conservative and looking for something closer to vanilla then you can try The Three Towns, this action server is not dungeon-based but quest based which is good refresment. Also it is perhaps not that much epic but unlike other action modules (HG suffers by this too) the creeps there are very strong and its not hack&slash but rather challenging.
