You're a clown, Julia. A clown. Look at you. How can you look at that little link at the bottom of your signature and not burst out laughing at how ridiculous you are?

It is like that scene in Jarhead for you? Make everything into a circus and nothing can hurt you?

Which link?

What about it do you find particularly ridiculous?

David. Your mere presence can turn every thread into a three ring circus.

Oh my God. I read Julia's blogs and found this.

David7204 wrote...

Well, I guess I'm yet again going to be the black sheep and say this is garbage.

It's garbage. This insinuation of 'BioWare sucks at plots but it doesn't matter as long as I get my happy ending' is garbage.

Frankly, it irritates me that happy endings have to be defended by crap arguments like this. The sheer hypocrisy of complaining about 'ass pulls' and then whining about Thane dying. The sheer absurdity of making ridiculous proclamations of why Shepard's survival was kept ambiguous when far more reasonable explanations exist. The sheer incompetence of making accusations of bad writing, Mary Sues, 'comic book heroes'...this continual stream of insults that Mass Effect is a below average story by below average writers.

I'm going to judge this post with the same criteria I would judge content in the game by.

You despite Walters. But you ought you to hate yourself just as much. You deserve it. You suck. You suck at what you're doing. This post is rubbish, and I would fire you in an instant if you were in a paid position making content like this. In your hypocrisy and incompetence, you've dragged down what Mass Effect stands for every bit as much as the endings. The endings will always be far louder than a lowly blog post on a forum, but the messages are comparable.

'Happy endings are for stupid people. Mass Effect and stories like it are silly little stories full of quirky characters - when you want REAL stories with actual plots go enjoy blah blah blah - stupid silly stories like Mass Effect don't need them.'

The truth is this - Shepard is loved and respected and cherished because of his or her heroism in fighting the Reapers. Yes, heroism. Heroism that could never exist without such a conflict but ultimately could exist without the supporting characters. The truth is that plots matter a great deal. The truth is that while Mass Effect certainly has it's share of problems, it's overwhelmingly a very well written story. The truth is that any ideas that any story of significant length that deals with any but the most mundane content doesn't have significant problems of it's own are delusional fantasies.

I'm ashamed to have you speak on behalf of me. On behalf of Shepard.

Epic, simply epic.

Mods?

You new to the ME section? This is a waste land. Why do you think that the MP forum is still around?

I think we all need to simply accept the fact that the series was horribly written, and what we fell in love with was its potential. We kept hoping it was going to get better. It didn't. Instead it inspired fan fiction efforts to make it better.

Oh come on...

This is the story of great warrior brought back from the land of the dead by twisted beings intent only on saving themselves, infuzed with an unholy power, to do battle with the gods of the universe. It is the story of a warrior forced to become a leader, and a leader who must unite all of his kind, enemy and friend, the wicked and the just, against an impossible enemy.

A leader who must understand the universe as it is, to chart the course of what it is to become.

The Mass Effect trilogy is ****ing epic!

Oh no, mods still ban people everywhere. It's just several posters like David always escape punishment.

Sounds a lot more like cleche to me. Especially sense Shepard barely does this in any form or fashion. He just shows up, shots somethings, and goes home.

What people also fell in love with was their own headcanon/LARP.

What about those two gals guarding the door into the War Asset room on the ME3 Normandy? Perhaps their conversation could have been made more interesting if it provided some in-depth, emotional view of the Reaper War from the perspective of your average Alliance military grunt?

Or perhaps the Council? Perhaps in ME2 they actually acknowledge that Sovereign was a Reaper, but after extensive research truly believed that the bulk of the Reapers were trapped in Dark Space and posed no threat?

I don't know what I'd do with Thane... scrap him I guess? I'd change so much about him that he wouldn't even be recognizable and it's not like removing him would be a great loss. The only "role" he really fills is being the third male LI in ME2, and honestly, I don't think he even does that well. Nothing gets me more turned on than a talking frog with a severe case of Carth Syndrome :?

As for Ashley,  I'd give her meaningful content like the cut afterlife talk after she joins the squad again in ME3 and a hair style that actually looked good on her.

I would have liked it if the Drell were a new species from the Terminus Systems instead of servants of the Hanar that we somehow never heard about in ME1.
