Max already expressed my thoughts on the issue...I am disappointed if I have fired a rocket at the end of the game.  I will use them to save teammates from sync-kills and that's about it.  This game is much more fulfilling to me when I extract with 6 missiles.
Also, thanks for the game yesterday Cato.  If I remember correctly, neither of us fired a rocket.

OP, note that the two people stroking their e-peen in the this thread (kookiekrisp and DSL) are also the two people who fire their cobra more than their weapon to pad their score and brag about useless N7 rank.

This will walk you through the usual proper usage of rockets.

My personal policy is whenever I damn well feel like it at this point.

Double tapping rocket trooper? Cobra. Scion shoots you through a wall? Cobra. A swarmer looks at my Drell funny? Cobra. Geth Primes? Double Cobra because you can never be too sure with those hell spawned robot bastages.

. . .

This is how I feel sometimes.  Other times, I just want to finish the game as quickly as possible.  Though the use of rockets clouds how well someone performed.

Lmao.  This also happens sometimes.

All I know is that when I rage-rocket, I use all the missiles I have. Even if nothing else is left on the map than Swarmers.

Only by players that are jealous of you always topping the scoreboard. For the record, use as many as you want in my matches. Extraction is the most important thing...B)

If you're nuking when you or your team are in trouble, you're doing it right. Nuking for points is the domain of scrubs.

Don't let anyone dictate to you what you can and can't do. It's just a game, do what you like. What's wrong with wanting to climb the scoreboard by firing missiles on wave 11? Is that really such a terrible thing?

Well, if it were your team mates carrying the team during objective waves using their missiles, ops packs, medigels and you saved all your missiles to wave 11 spawn nuking then yes it is a terrible thing. On the other hand if the game was easy and everyone has missiles left than it is pretty much pointless to use them up.
Note, I save and use missiles at wave 11, however I always use them to clear the landing zone or the path to the LZ if it is blocked.

It depends on how you've been playing really. If a player has been at the bottom of the scoreboard leeching all game and decides to nuke on wave 11, I would probably be annoyed. But if a player plays really well all match and decides to use his missiles on wave 11, I'm more then happy for that player to do so.

The bolded, underlined statement are for the BSNers who have forgotten that fact... B)

Oh god yes.

To the OP, be aware of when to missile turrets. Although it almost falls under the "missile when trouble happens," pugs seem to have a special talent for ignoring turrets in general, and specifically when going to revive teammates, leading to a deathtrap situation where you are the only one left.

Rocket that ****.

Try killing spawn on wave 8, 9 & 10. That will help wave length λ shorter.

That would mean the frequency is higher then?

Short version is use them when something needs to be dead, and it needs to be right quick now. Then again I admit to stumbling on a spawn and finding it just too juicy to pass up. I'm a bad person, throw me out the airlock.

You are using them right op don't change. It's amazing how players hang on to those things like grim death when they are needed and then have to use way more after things have gone to hell. If each player used a couple rockets per game at the right time games would be way easier.

If it's a perfectly smooth game I prefer not using any missiles at all, it's simply more fun. That's the reason I'm playing after all. I've been thrown into a Gold pug last week where a guy with a lvl 20 character nuked spawns starting with wave 2. I almost lost it.

I have to agree with this. Spawn nuking is great if you are doing a speed run, otherwise I would rather play the game. Relax and have some fun.

Missiles are always the least consumable I have.. sometimes I don't use them.. sometimes I use them on Marauder that just killed me with the Peoples Elbow.. then I use the missile again at his steaming corpse because he just made me rage-gel. use them as you see fit, but always save 3 for those 'oh #iht' moments

When I missile, it's usually to help with the objective, save teammates from sync kills or clear the LZ at the last 20 seconds of extraction. Couple days ago I was playing plat with some friends on Ghost hazard, we got devices on wave 10 and a couple banshees decide to try and ninja grab the person on the device. Made the save both times and I was amazed that I did that only because lately I have been on a string of missile fails. I also nuke on targets the first one cause I usually want it to switch to something that's not a boss enemy and I rocket on wave 10 cleanup if I have a few spare missiles. Bottom line, it's your missiles op and I'd say from what you've posted about how you use them, you are going in the right direction. :D

They are your missiles, but use them responsibly.

Remember - by rocketing a spawn on one side of the map, you might ruin the day of another player on the other side of the map.

I recently hit 250 games and have much yet to learn.

So far I've used missiles mostly to facilitate objectives, save squaddies about to be sync-killed by Banshees, wipe out a spawn of troublesome enemies near the LZ on wave 11, and to take out enemies dangerous at range during the last seconds before extraction.

It seems nuking on wave 11 is generally frowned upon, however, and that it's seen as a cheap way to climb the scoreboard. What would "appropriate missile usage" be?

It's exactly what you are doing, plus rage missiles. If you rage, you rage, doesn't matter where, when and against what.

If it's a cold and calculated use of a missile, then the only times it's "allowed" in my head is the one you listed. Oh and also if I really want to revive a teammate and there are too many enemies over his body for me to clean in a few secs. Happens very rarely.

My personal policy:
Use missiles if you see a juicy, juicy spawn on waves 5, 8, or 9.
Use a missile if everything's bunched together after the objective on wave 10, save a couple of seconds.
Use missiles to protect the objective, or force a switch during 'Targets.'
If someone's not level 20, use missiles during wave 11 for sake of XP.

I would use missiles to save people from sync kills, but whenever I try, I'm not quick enough on the draw, so I usually try grenades/weapons instead (possibly with weapons aided by a thermal pack use). Yeah, I have horrible timing.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and rage missiles.

Taken out by Combat Drone? Rage gel, rage missile, and send that damned combat drone to the MP hell that it spawned from!
