Just for those who didn't get to see it.

What he said, Its not an open world. Its a large world.

This.

It's not an open world à la Skyrim, as we've said many times. There are areas, however, which are much larger and which have lots of places to explore and engage with-- and they exist in conjunction with (and sometimes as part of) the kind of story-heavy content you expect from us.

And, no, there's not a lot of "life" to those big areas just yet-- a lot of that is yet to come, as those details are part of the polish we put into such areas prior to release. The demo shows what we can of our pre-alpha build at this point, and there will be plenty of details to come (including, I imagine, more on the actual story content) in the next year.

Feedback is useful, so by all means comment away-- and thank you to those who said this looks promising. For those who don't, I'd suggest reserving judgment until you see more, but it's your dollar.

I HATE that explanation of the consequences of your choices. PLEASE tell me you can turn it off, I don't want to feel like a retard while playing the game.

Bioware said at PAX (I think it was PAX) that this is a toggle (cue punted kittens).

It's also not an explanation of the consequences, but rather an explanation of what you will be ordering.

You'd think they would release the demo footage to the public in high quality. It is absolutely everywhere, it is no secret that such a demo exists.

We didn't release it, however.

I suppose we could release a better-quality version of the demo, now that it's out there, but that's really up to the Powers That Be as to whether this should change the roll-out of information they already have planned. Odd that sites would call this a "leak" when really it's just a poor capture of a presentation we've shown numerous times at cons by now, but there you have it.

Better answer would require the knowledge of their makreting plan.

People who follow BSN regulary are constanly reminded of the brand, the rest however is not.

The so called "leak" activated memory of the brand amoungs people who follow gaming news and saw an article. Releasing official high quality demo now would likely strenghten memory of the brand and emotion associated with it. (Positive emotions given that the footage would create such - can be tested)

After ME3 ending and DA2 BioWare as a brand very likely suffered, so they can't really afford to be as quet as Bethesda or CD Projekt RED. There is too much negative bias towards the brand of BioWare.

I'm sure the marketing folks appreciate the tip-- although if I were to throw out a conjecture, I'd say that most of the negative discussion (about the linked demo as well as our "brand") is among the hardcore Internet folks and not among those who need to be reminded that Dragon Age exists. Putting out a better quality video of the demo, in my opinion, isn't going to suddenly change their tone. That will come in time, with more info on the game, if anything's capable of changing their mind at all.
