Well, I'm not impressed. No, I am disappointed. Any of DA2 design issues seems to be solved. Big useless empty areas with no distinctive features? Check. Fights with too much special effects and too few actual tactics? Check. Far too much pseudo-epic enemies? Check. And I am almost sure battles will be as repetative and boring as they were in DA2. DA2, ME2 and ME3 indicate that this is how RPGs are done today. Yet I still will preorder it as soon as possible. To whine the hell out of it.

Long-live elitist nostalgia!

EDIT: Thanks for the Link, guy. I hadn't seen much of this footage before.

The "no talking while out of the den" style clearly says that this game will be even more button awesome than in DA2. Flashy combat, hulk cassandra and ME3 style 2 option discussion means that rpg is out of the window and hack'n slash pew pew is in.

Yes. Not having the possibility to start conversation with companion outside means that the game will be an hack and slash. You didn't enjoy ME, I assume, and don't think is an RPG.
The combat's normal animations (meaning the normal attacks) are toned down compared to DA2. I don't like much the shield bashing and the earth attack, but I have problems about this since DAO (War Cry ftw). As for the dialogue system, you said that in the twitter thread too, and I (and others) responded to you that the only dialogue option in the demo had THREE options. Where have you seen two choices?
I think it's normal to have a fears about DAI, and to have problems with the demo. That doesn't mean that it's fair to say  that a single feature (no convo outside safe areas) means that the game will be an hack and slash, or saying that the dialogue wheel will have mostly two choices when the only one shown has three.
@Immer Rastrelly: fair enough.

I could be wrong but that one option looked like a question.

No, there where three different choices. The top righ is 'stay with the wounded' the bottom left is 'ready and get to Crestwood !' and the bottom right is 'regroup and return to the keep!'.
In the official site there's the screenshot with the dialogue wheel, so you can check it out easily.

Ooooh, it's of a different event.

I thought it was directly FROM the PAX event. Sorry if I came off harshly, OP.

Somebody has been looking at Dark Souls' combat.

(This is in no way a complaint)

If you can already tell it'll be bad, why preordering and buy the game at full price, you can big it when it'll cost less. Or did you promise yourself that you'd buy the game full price?

I promised myself I'll preorder it. Call it my quirk. I already have a 60-buck money stash spesifically for that purpose. It's all or nothing, you see? Simply put: BioWare was the only company I had no complaints for. At all. I started from around KOTOR, then went for Baldur's Gate (both), MDK2 (it was fun), Mass Effect (for me, an old sci-fi fan it was a breathe of fresh air), Dragon Age: Origins (a fine game, but too blend IMO), ME2 (quite a fine game), but then, SUDDENLY. Bad DA2. Horrible beyond any imagination DA3. Obviously stupid C&C (at the moment Victory Games were part of BioWare). Lots of poor DLCs. Unexpacted design fails BioWare never allowed themselves. Well, you see what I mean? I am ready to give it a final try. But if it will fail, I'll return my money (EA gave me this tool, hehe) and will avoid BioWare products.

If you only got to Palaven before hating ME3, then you are clearly playing the wrong games for you, because the sense I get from the bulk of ME fans is that if ME3 ever went full on "bad," it was within the last 20 minutes of the game. And most of the DLCs were received as well made. If you were that off put by DA2 and ME3 and thought Origins was just okay, but too bland, then I'd suggest that you not even bother with DA3. It seems like Dragon Age was never in your wheelhouse in the first place. Try it if you like, but I have a feeling that you're not going to like it, based on your stated preferences and dislikes.

On the other hand, what did you mean by "Unexpacted design fails BioWare never allowed themselves?" Not only is that an incomplete sentence, but it's missing critical information to make it intelligible, and I'd like to understand what you were trying to say by that, as I think it would be important in understanding why and how you feel about Bioware as a whole. Thanks.

Quality is better, so that's worth a new watch. Or so I tell myself.

S'all good. Although, it says right above the video that it's not from Pax. Only reason I changed the title is because it might of not been "new gameplay".

I'm definitely getting some Dragon's Dogma and Dark Souls' vibes. :D

This pleases me. Veilfire looks amazing and the notion of having scholars certainly catches my attention. I do hope this will still look nice on my xbox 360....currently too broke to afford a new videogame console.

That comment section makes me feel disgusted to call myself a witcher fan.

The site is good for getting information early, but currently it's having a console war and is kinda toxic.

Had not seen the footage until just now.

Wasn't actually excited about DA:I until... just now.

Does DA:I even have a tactics menu or is it pure hack-n-slash except you can switch the character you control?

Yeah why try and make a sequel worthy of DA:O when you can copy a higher selling game like Skyrim and just slap the 'Dragon Age' name on it...

@ItsTheTruth: Are you serious? What I saw was nothing like Skyrim.

There's this tactical mode you can play in... it was like a quasi-turn based. That seemed so awesome.

If anything - that's actually further away from Skyrim and toward old school rpgs.

If this is the kind of combat encounters we can look forward to, then....YAY! I might actually like the combat. Those tactical options look great, and the combat is flashy but not nearly as over-the-top silly as in DA2. It looks like they're going to deliver on the idea of combining the best features of DAO and DA2, and with new tactical options on top of it.

Looks beautiful, but... the open world... a lot of pointless wandering around... I will not be pleased if DA:I will look and feel like Skyrim or an MMO without other players. I'll get bored in the first half hour of gameplay, and never will start the game again... that's exactly what happened when I tried several elder-scrolls-based games.

Why open world, BioWare? Why not instanced world with each instance 10 times more detailed and beautiful than this?

@Seival: Because fast travelling everywhere doesn't ever capture anything close to sweeping epic... ever.

Honestly - fast travelling in DA:O is something that made me feel like the Blight was so pointless and not at all dangerous.

I'm sorry you don't like exploring... but I like discovering the world, not some scripted events.

There are still separate areas. They're just much bigger than what in the previous games and encompass more locations each. So no, you won't have to walk from the Western Approach all the way to Denerim and back.

@all:
Those strategic options look extremely interesting as well.
