Of course, just as you get fanboys ("I'll buy everything from my favorite company and will not accept any flaws or that the game is horrible") you also get the anti-fans ("I don't care if the company that I have boycotted produce a good game, any game they now produce is horrible in my eyes due to the past bad experiences that I had with them").
Too much politics and religious devotion here, especially when you see Witcher fans slagging off Inquisition because it's presented as the competition to The Witcher series. There's no threat. I see two potentially good games coming out but it's like they see the anti-Christ or something that could end their favorite game series.
I have definitely noticed a tendency for the nicest fanpersons to turn, when spurned, into the most violent detractors. Kind of like ex smokers, I suppose.
I was always bemused by people who behave like petulant children over a computer game they didn't like, all of that spittle and fury and nauseating toxicity over something they dropped the price of a meal on : like they don't have any real problems, and especially when it is directed in the form of horrid contempt at people who have poured their life into that product for years.
With DA2 I'm afraid I understood for the first time - it is the only, the single game I have honestly felt that cheesed off about. Even now when I happen across the DAII case the feeling associated with it is a mild feeling of having been done over - like someone ran away and left me to pay their phone bill.
Of course, these days people are just icky over every single game release, even when it's good, and perhaps for those of us who were annoyed over DA2 or ME3 that puts our own attitude under a microscope for us, tells us we should probably have been less invested - move on and be a bit more laid back.
For that reason, I am not going to cede to the religious zealotry for or against the game. I will see what other people say. If it is unbelievably, earth-shatteringly good, I might get it and play it like it's the only game in its series.
