If you use stasis to hit targets with a sniper rifle you shouldn't call it sniping.

...and I guess waiting til the enemy takes cover and stops moving is not "real" sniping either?

Elaborate on Indra.

Sinapus summarized quite well.

Additionally, I said any kit because you can think it as an assault rifle with free scoping. You don't have to be a master at reload canceling. It doesn't require aiming skills as much as other sniper rifles such as Javelin or Widow. So even if you miss some shots you will still be able to inflict considerable damage in one magazine.
In fact, it has the highest sustained DPS; with proper mods such as targeting VI it becomes even more powerful.

2) Tempest is not bad. It is very light, good at long range and has decent damage. Give it some stability via passives/mods, attach high velocity/caliber barrel and there you have a rare level SMG to put on your power oriented character. If you're after completing the SMG challenge without any of the other rare/ultra-rare SMGs that's what you should use.

You don't have enough SMGs to finish that challenge without any rare/UR SMG. Only Tempest, Locust and Shuriken are not rare/UR. Needs 5 to finish that category.

Sorry for bad wording. What I meant by that is: If you don't/can't use some of the rare/ultra-rare SMGs because of some reason and still want to complete the SMG challenge, tempest is the best alternative.

The Tempest is good at long range ? You must be good at handling recoil

I mentioned stabilization via passives or mods

But, but, it a 50% damage increase!

Do whatever you want, but don't call that sniping :P

You could call it... fun!

No, I could not in my best mind call that fun. Wallbanging yes, shooting stasis'd units with a sniper rifle? No.

AV + Saber + Warfighter Gear + Stasis rank 6b *shrugs*

If I wanted to charge > grenade spam it, I'd Drellguard.

Of course not. And using any power to stagger them is not sniping as well.

You could argue that quick scoping is not real sniping either...

Pff, is there even any argument about that?

Nope. But real snipers don't even have to see the target, they just sense their presence. To this end, the only true sniper is GI! :D

Zooming in is out of the question too. Hip fire or bust.

Nothing short of 360 no scopes can be considered sniping.

I can't take the Indra suggestion seriously.
The Reegar Carbine makes any kit Gold viable. And it is much easier to unlock than the Indra.

1) Spamming barrier is fun, especially on Krogan Shaman. There are many powers/weapons that has ragdoll effect but barrier is often overlooked

Yup. Although the Shaman is the only character I do it on, and I only ever do it for the challenge. Although I barely do it for that since there are other biotic powers that are easier/just as fun to get.

I view the Tempest as the poor mans Hurricaine.  I like it better than the Hornet, and possiblly the Locust.

3) Any kit that have statis is a potential sniper. I don't play Vanguards much but seeing that I have to complete 200 waves with that Assguard I decided to give her a Black Widow (because she looks like an Ardat-Yakshi who consumes her prey after having sex with them). The result? She was as deadly as a real life black widow. Stasis->head shot, stasis->head shot. Throw some lift grenades if you're overwhelmed. Anything with armor? Just shooting from far should suffice. I should definitely try a gold solo with her.

Yeah, but I never use them like that. Since I'm part of the console masderp race, I get autoaim, so I don't need stasis. I only spec into statis on my Volus and Asari Commando for them bombs.

4) Indra makes any kit gold viable

Yeah, I guess. It's a good gun, and I enjoy it when I use it for the challenges, but I rarely just use it. Other guns just feel better to me.

5) Inferno grenades are overpowered. Dat damage, dat radius... It turns all bosses to a joke when the armor damage upgrade is taken. Well may be not the praetorian because of that power blocking bubble.

Yup, although I don't find myself playing kits with them much. Batarian Soldier is awesome and I love him, but I hardly run him, not sure why.

6) Krogan Warlord's light melee is more reliable than his heavy melee. If you're going to slam that hammer without charging it with biotic (or tech for lulz), then don't bother, you will hit the target more reliably with just the light melee and at the end you get an explosion bonus.

If it's mook, run in with Electic Hammer and stun them, then light melee spam to finish them off. Biotic Hammer for bosses, first hit is heavy melee, second is the light melee string ending with the second charge (most bosses are dead after that).

7) Drells are tankier than I credited them for. Dat reave, dat cloak, dat biotic charge. I should have started playing them much sooner.

It took me a while to get into the Drell Adept, but man I love him. Infiltrator is much easier to play and wipe the floor with. Don't really care for the Vanguard.

8) And finally, no Volus are not support characters. And no Bioware is not trolling us by making the volus adept/engineer ultra-rare. Those space dwarfs, especially the adept/vanguard, have a high survivability. Well, what's the magic? They all have free cloak, defensive stance should not be overlooked, and biotic orbs are far more useful when specced for power recharge speed. With some additional mods/light weapons you get a recharge speed below 3 seconds for the Shield Boost. However a build like this has a good survivability/DPS balance and can deal with any enemy/faction on its own.

Love running the Volus in random games. People are so confused when they see the damage they're capable of. My personal order from favorite to least favorite is Merc->Adept->Vanguard->Engineer. The Engineer is good, but his powers don't really synergize well enough for me (3 powers with long cooldown).  My Vanguard puts orbs on and leaves them on, so I don't count that. Adept with incendiary sets up statis bombs and fire explosions a lot so there plenty of crowd control to allow for orb recharge. Merc has so many "look over there" abilities (decoy, drone, cloak) that it doesn't matter.
