The tank had a waste disposal system.
Or perhaps there was more to those massive square boxes you could eject from Zaeed's room...

Like the great apes on Earth, Krogan can and do consume their own waste to extract every last iota of nutrients.

Can Grunt even take off that suit of armour? It looks like it's just permanently attached.
Something else; on the Citadel, we see bathrooms that look designed for humanoid species. Do humans, volus, hanar, elcor, etc all share the same toilet facilities?

Actually, alien restrooms are simply not recognisable as such - e.g. the hanar urinal in Citadel DLC.Something else; on the Citadel, we see bathrooms that look designed for humanoid species. Do humans, volus, hanar, elcor, etc all share the same toilet facilities?

All of those are merely wall decorations. At no time in the trilogy do we see anyone poop or pee, nor do we hear farts. Why is this? Krogan farts would be epic. BioWare really screwed up by leaving these important functions out. Perhaps there is no need of waste exraction in the future? If so, why no codex entry?

He brought a newspaper into the lavatory on the SR2 and stayed in there for a while. Then dumped it in the toilet. Gardiner got a call. How do you think? You didn't want to go in there afterward. Just hope Gardiner washed his hands. Poor Kasumi.

You mean you don't go into Shepard's bathroom on the Normandy to flush the toilet every once and a while? Pew!

Oh, thanks david for stating the obvious since no one here ever thought of that. What would the rest of BSN do without you?

The answer is simple:
Strategically located hinges and a catch on his armor
