Regarding the Salarians, and other under-represented races in multiplayer

Fun fact: of all of the races in Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer, the only species with fewer kits than the Salarians are the Awakened Collectors and, if you count it as its own species, the Alliance Infiltration Units. Both have one kit.

So, apart from the freed husks of a dead race and Alliance copies of the Eva/EDI bot, every playable species has more kits than the Salarians, one of the four races represented by the Council. Batarians, the outlaw slaver race first and hardest hit by the reapers? Check, with four kits. The barely sentient (and completely hilarious and awesome) Vorcha? With three kits, check. The non-organic Geth, who are precluded from being Adepts, Vanguards, or arguably Sentinels (although pure-tech Sentinels do exist) because they are not organic? Check, four kits. The lethal joke character Volus kits? Freaking. Check. Four Volus (Volii? Voluses?) kits are yours for the unlocking.

Now, with a grand total of two kits, the Salarians might strike you as being ridiculously underrepresented in Mass Effect 3 Co-Op (granted, the Salarians don't employ biotics in combat, preventing a few kits from ever happening, but that didn't stop the Geth). But, believe it or not, the Salarians are far from being the least represented race in the game! Along with Collectors and EDIbots, Salarians still have more MP kits than the following races:

Hanar: The jellyfish-like race that can't actually move out of water without mass effect hoverpacks and are reliant upon the Drell for non-aqueous violence. Note: Blasto is considered fiction within a fictional universe, making it too unreal for serious inclusion (although that would be awesome).

Elcor: The lumbering, seemingly-monotone-to-other-species race would probably make the Geth Juggernaut look downright nimble.

Protheans (non-corrupted ones at least): Dead for 50,000 years, a race currently represented by exactly one currently-living Prothean that Shepard found in a refrigerator (right behind the Varren roast).

Yahg: A race currently too vicious for interaction with the rest of the galaxy - a galaxy which, if you recall, includes Krogan, Vorcha, Batarians, Krogan, Rachni, Jack, Renegade FemShep, and Krogan.

Rachni: A race that might be completely enslaved by the reapers depending on the player's choices in ME1! (Otherwise, they are just on the brink of extinction, NBD).

Varren: A.k.a Space Dogs

Space Cows: A race that is far too OP. The species that evolves and destroys the reapers in the next cycle in the Refusal ending? Yup. Space Cows. True fact.

Keepers: ... I actually cannot think of a legitimate reason why these were left out of the multiplayer. BIOWARE IS RACIST AGAINST THE KEEPERS! SIGN MY OFFICIAL PETITION TO GET KEEPERS IN ME4 MULTIPLAYER.

Edit: Stupid spacing

Two salarians is more than enough.

And five Quarian kits when their total population is 16 million and mainly non-combatants or pilots. Who spend the majority of the ME3 timeline fighting the Geth and then resettling Rannoch (or being made extinct).

Salarians were robbed!!!

I do wish there had been a way to make a Elcor weapons platform as a viable soldier kit, if only for the dialogue.

I have no idea about any of this stuff. People actually play the single player?

Well we listened to fan feedback, and the call for more Salarians came right before Retaliation was released. By that point it was too late for Retaliation, and for reckoning we decided to go back to create full new characters.

Remember the salarian speech on Virmire, they do not exist

I hope this didn't come off as a complaint thread - it was a sad attempt at amusement is all.

Just let the guys know to rectify the situation with amply STG representation in the next game Bryan and we're cool.

Or impliment a "create a character" system so people who want a particular spieces+class combo can make one themselves from pre-existing models, voice SFX, and power set's, that could work too.

Like that DLC where bioware came up with some new ways to use old tricks, It'd be fun to see what kit's people could come up with.

Would be a right ****** to balance though, we can think of some quite OP power combo's.

EDIT: instead of unlocking finished kits in ME4MP's store, you'd unlock components to make kits.

Not sure how they would do it but I think historical battle mode would be neat as well. Maybe like fight in the First Contact War etc. I think a previous poster mentioned this in another thread and it sounded like a decent idea.

So many good ideas, it makes you wonder how many ideas the devs have get left on the cutting room floor?

I think 2 Salarians make sense. Most of them are in STG training, and not the STG-knock off, human N7 training.

As an aside I don't want that. The big strength of ME3 multiplayer game play was the massive diversity of gameplay offered by the kits. They were defined by their limitations as much as their strengths.

However I think this would be a great community event. Having a competition where people submitted their crazy ideas and Bioware turned what they considered the best and most practical into dlc characters would be hugely fun imo.

A new Salarian would have counted as a "new" character, no? You guys will 'have to' create more playable Salarians in NMEMP. :)

Despite there being only 2 salarian characters, they are my favorite MP race. Salarians are awesome, their powers are awesome and the guns they created are beyond awesome!

Nah, we already saw sentinels (ME2) and soldier merc equivalents (Tazzik).

Just makes sense when the universe is coming to the end for all to be involved.
