Salarians are the geek species.

Their presence hits too close to home for most gamers

:D

Bottom line is there should have been more salarians regardless of the reasons.  Fan feedback or otherwise.  Adding Batarians does not mean needing 2 more batarian kits. Etc.

Adding volus is fun but stupid.  Besides, if fun was REALLY being had, someone would have added Varren....

THAT would have been better than two more volus kits.

For real? Or did you just mix it up with a Portal2 playthrough?

Despite there being only 2 salarian characters, they are my favorite MP race. Salarians are awesome, their powers are awesome and the guns they created are beyond awesome!

I can't decide which I like more - batarians or salarians. Or wait, I can - batarians!

I'd love to have a salarian engiltrator though. One with a cloack, drone and arc granades.

I wonder how that would work (playable varren or something like a power that uses varren).

I've always been a big proponent of salarians, but I don't care anymore.

Just give us space cows.

They have arms, so they can use weapons, omni-tools and biotics - we have all the classes covered.

I can't wait to try out my Shifty Looking Infiltrator.

And five Quarian kits when their total population is 16 million and mainly non-combatants or pilots. Who spend the majority of the ME3 timeline fighting the Geth and then resettling Rannoch (or being made extinct).

Salarians were robbed!!!

To be a bit nerdy here OP, there's nothing stopping the Geth from having biotics in the lore.

But on topic, 4 Volus and 2 Salarians? Heck even 4 Quarians? That's a bit weird.

Because "promise" + "pony" made me remember standing over a chasm somewhere. it just took me some time to figure out where that was.

Just let the guys know to rectify the situation with amply STG representation in the next game Bryan and we're cool.

Or impliment a "create a character" system so people who want a particular spieces+class combo can make one themselves from pre-existing models, voice SFX, and power set's, that could work too.

Like that DLC where bioware came up with some new ways to use old tricks, It'd be fun to see what kit's people could come up with.

Would be a right ****** to balance though, we can think of some quite OP power combo's.

EDIT: instead of unlocking finished kits in ME4MP's store, you'd unlock components to make kits.

I think a better way would be to keep classes as they are but make more than the character's current 3 powers available. Like you can view like 10 powers they could possibly have but you can only choose 3 + Fitness and the class tree to put points into.
Example: Geth Engineeer currently has Turret, Overload, Hunter mode, "fitness", and class tree. But with this idea you could have one that uses Flamer, Energy Drain, Sabotage, fitness, and class tree instead. However it could also be balanced out in a manner of saying you only get 2 Damage powers(Overload, concussive shot, throw) and 1 personal power(Adrenaline rush, hunter mode, fortification) so that you dont have a class with the big 3 tech powers (flamer, snap freeze, overload)

... Am I being trolled? Probably. Am I responding anyway? Why not?

Apologies for missing your obscure reference to an obscure phrase relating to an obscure fragment of popular culture.

Accepted.

Annomander wrote...

Volus are not a joke. Their inclusion adds a little humour, a little comic cuteness... however they have lore to back them up and your labelling them as a "joke" is unwarranted. They were included because players sought support characters in MP; volus proved to be a cute, humorous and lore friendly way of adding support kits to the game... Being humorous does not infer that they are a joke. If they'd given them wings, 1 damage bows and arrows and other such foolishness you could refer to them as "jokes".

If you don't think that a race of diminutive spherical bureaucrats and bankers running around with guns trying to save the galaxy isn't hilarious (and adorable and totally awesome), then you have no sense of humor.

Annomander wrote...

The fact that the volus were prepared to modify their suits and join the fight proved just how tenacious and respect worthy they really were... on the other hand, your Salarians got pissy and took a strop when they realised the Krogan were joining the party. From a lore perspective, having only a handful of salarians makes more sense.

Simply being a certain shape or size does not make the volus a joke either. I could point out that Salarians that don't even live for 30 years and lack any real physical strength could be considered a "joke" when put in combat roles, but something tells me that you wouldn't be bothered about such technicalities.

Okay, now I know I'm being trolled (and yet I still post)...

Either that, or someone really doesn't like the Salarians...

I wasn't complaining that there were too many Volus kits, or any other kit for that matter; I was just pointing out that there probably could have been more Salarian kits.

Annomander wrote...

A krogan, laughing his ass off while smacking enemies about incurs laughter: Does this mean the krogan are a joke too, by your logic?

No. By my logic, the Krogan is being funny. And awesome. And adorable...?

The Volus is still a joke. They wield godly biotic/tech power, and they are certainly lethal, but make no mistake. They are a joke.

But calm yourself, good sir/madam. Sleep well, and dream of bulbous women/men. You can destroy the universe tomorrow.
