All you noobs need to stop skipping powers with the Saboteur.

6/6/6/4/4 or GTFO

yeah let me just skip the last two ranks of a Turian's passives...

What exactly are you gonna need 10% extra weapon damage for? What exactly are you gonna need 125 extra health and ~150 extra shields for? Why can't you just get all that back via consumables and let your skill points go toward making the powers themselves halfway decent?

No wonder most of you require the Venom to make him any good.

you can skip Rank 6 of his passives for a 6/6/6/5/3 build.

Stability isn't needed if you have the Particle Rifle, just use Incendiary ammo for a power build. with Tech Bursts from Sabotage and Fire Explosions from the Incendiary. Shock Turret to stagger a group, use a Homing Grenade then Sabotage because of the travel time.

the Acolyte can be used along with the Particle Rifle. be sure to put on the Power Magnifier.

He's my favourite Volus. I use a Raider on him and get personal. Decoy and Combat Drone are wonderful IMO. 6/6/6/6/0 Volus or GTFO, same for TSab.

Volus merc is really easy and fun to play. Decoy in doorways, cast drone as often as possible, and headshot things with paladin. I have 6 points in shield boost, but rarely use it, because he rarely needs it. I may use it twice/thrice a match for my own gain. The other times I use it is because I hear a nearby teammates character complaining about low shields, or when the team is on an objective.

If your doing it right, you don't need to spam shield boost to survive.

With regards to TSab, 5/6/5/6/4 with argus. come at me bro!

You serious? If yes then

Nope, the destroyer is. That feeling of running in the same place never gets old.

Try arc pistol with disruptor rounds.

I would say slightly frustrating rather then challenging in that he practically lacks offensive powers and decoy or drone don´t seem to do much in enemy ranks, so I depend on my weapon and shield boost most of time.
I still like volus merc more then engineer. For some reason, I can´t find my pace with engineer.

edit: And damn, now I am in mood to play merc. I think I am gonna spec the decoy for explosion just to have some fun.

My favorite volus in the game. I run him with arc pistol -> cast drone behind an enemy it staggers the enemy -> easy headshot. Btw Phantoms are easy because they get so horny for shock drone and shock decoy.

Volus Merc is one of my favorite kits against Geth. Equip him with Falcon and Disruptor rounds and enjoy dat stun lock & distraction :D With decoy and drone confusing those droids I hardly take any damage.

I give him the Acolyte + Piranha with Disruptor ammo. I like it when Phantoms hurt themselves by targeting my Combat Drone and making it explode for damage, stagger and a Tech Burst. :)

Aren't Phantoms melee units?

Yes, so?

Enemies designated as "melee" units completely ignore all pets.

I've had a Phantom completely ignore me while I was doing a device. She was not more than 1m away, but did not engage me. Why? Geth Turret.

Phantoms seem to be able to be distraced by drones/turrets.

the only one volus i play with is the merc. i always liked pets and he has 2 of them. if played right, he is untouchable and can not be seen by the enemy at all, while he can deliver a pretty good amount of weapon damage.

He could use more "active" pets but against Geth he works wonders.
In fact all the gadgets and the LM cloak make him feel like a "real" infiltrator. I like this class because I generally like stealth characters (I also like my SS ninja Shadow).
The Volus Merc was the character that made me realize I could play Gold regularly and give up Silver.

He would also be the right character for one of these "mirror room" stand-offs: Being the bad guy he spawns decoys and drones and laughs maniacally while the hero tries to figure out the true villain.
Or a Travis Bickle: "You lookin' at me?"

My favourite Volus. He's a pimp , Geth/Phantoms are his bi-a-tches. I use incendiary ammo and both drone and decoy are specced for explosions. It's just hilarious to watch how stupid Bombers (primed with my Acolyte) just destroy themselves by bombarding the decoy.

0 points in fitness, max everything else.

Volus Merc isn't itself without the Kishock Whaler Rifle, 6/6/6/6/0 of course.

Not guilty on that front - I *like* the pets and use a 6/6/6/5/3 build. Gold/Geth is actually quite funny with 4 Volus Mercs; 4 players, 4 decoys, 4 combat drones - stagger those pesky robots back to DX2/66!

Apply PPR, tactically place decoy in between you and the enemy (while cloaked), spam drone, shoot stuff, keep yourself and your team alive.. win.

He's pretty cool.
