The main problem has been the antagonism of the youth as a majority of encountered dalish.tending to be xenophobic to the point of near hostility towards humans, They also heavily distrust city elves thinking them lapdogs of humans. The elders such as marethari gave both duncan and hawke the respect they would give an elf. There is an outlier in the form of zathrian his immortality kept fresh the hatred of his youth, and if the dalish got their land made him a terrible diplomat. He emphasized the worst traits of the dalish: standoffish, untrusting, hostile to all non dalish. His younger city elf raised apprentice lanaya  understanding of how things actually are in the human world helps keeps the peace temporarily, but she couldn't stem the cultural factors that  rig them to fail. While we shouldn't be able to heal this over night we should be able to meet more clans that integrate better. While it isnt all the dalishs fault it is also part human prejudice and part city elf isolation, and not all clans act as the one we have met. If I made any mistakes please correct me, also give your own opinions on the matter
I hope I dont sound biased im not racist towards elves, I love all races  im just frustrated with the example s we've been shown

Trying to apply the problems Dalish sometimes have to all of them is unfair. Just like it is for humans. Not all of them have the same perspective towards humans, city elves, xenophobia or outsiders.

David Gaider says here that diffrent clans behave in different ways towards humans. Some are xenophobic and violent, others are peaceful. We run into both perspectives when meeting Dalish elves over the course of the games.

King Alistair also seems to imply that the main reason the Dalish boon didn't go well was because of humans. Or at least, he feels it's something for him to make up to Mahariel.

The clans we have met have set a bad example

The problem with the Dalish, and indeed all elves, is that they cannot grow beards.
All bitterness and resentment stems from this cruel cosmic joke upon their race.

Not every elf in the same clan was equally hostile towards outsiders. And not every clan greeted humans with the same hostility: www.youtube.com/watch

So the problem with the Dalish is that some of them are prejudiced?

Just like humans, then.

Sarel is half dwarf. That way he gets pointy ears and a permanent 5 o'clock shadow.

I meant to imply the majority, not the entirety, but those that have had exposure to humans have been less hostile.

If you count all the individual elf characters, I suspect we would find many more friendly than unfriendly ones. Even Zathrian, while not a great person, didn't seem to have open contempt for non elven PCs. His flaws had more to do with his lust for revenge. Even some of the ones who are hostile later apologize and change, like the sentry for Zathrian's camp.

I'd laugh more if this made sense, though.

You can't fault Mithra (the sentry) for being "hostile". In fact, that wasn't even hostile. She told the outsiders to hold... And honestly, when 4 armored strangers approach your camp full of both warriors and family of course you're going to be extremely cautious.

Any human, and any dwarf would too. Even in the real world people are mistrustful like that by default in the same situation.

The problem with the Dalish is not their Xenophobia. Being mistrustful of humans will serve them well; twice before humans have betrayed and ruined them, and as long as the Chantry exists they will never get along. The real problem is how divided they are with the tribes, and how they can't just settle somewhere. They remind me of Quarians... Too stubborn to move forward and improve.

It made more sense to me than 'unfortunate childhood prank involving superglue.'

How can they possibly move forward and improve anymore when nobody will let the Dalish or the Quarians have a homeland anymore? The Dalish were doing just that when they had the Dales. And the Quarians were just about to do that on planet Ekuna when the Council decided to deny them and give it to the frakking Elcor instead. Those "tiny pieces of a broken history" are powerful priceless relics from a golden age that could help them and you expect them to just give it up? You expect the Dwarves to give up something like the Anvil? A relic that creates Golem super-soldiers? No way.

We need a good samaritan in Thedas to invent and synthesize VX gas to deal with the Dalish question once and for all.

Bioware themselves consider it a valid option.

Hopefully they'll switch it up some and let us annihilate a human town instead.
