So, ... is it really Lord of the Creed: Assassin of Mordor, or is there something more to it than blatant gameplay copying?

And yes, I've read about the Nemesis system, no, it doesn't convince me at all. So my question is, is there anything worthwhile to this game?

(Btw, not a AC fan, so take that in mind if you want to construct a recommendation)

Dishonored (which looks like an inspiration for this game) was a mash-up of "stolen" ideas and it turned out quite well. As for if there is anything worthwile, they could put out a demo and we could try ourselves.

This game looks like it has a lot of potential to be decent. I didn't expect much out of Dishonored and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I couldn't honestly care less if it's gameplay mechanics are copied from other games, as long as it's fun, and doesn't go off in some crazy wild direction with the story I think it'll be worth a try.

It looks like it has a lot of potential, but I hope to god they don't try to push any of it as canon.

I just can't get over how out of the spirit of Tolkein the whole thing feels

That is my one big problem with the game.  :(

I actually think that the idea of an immortal Aragorn/Assassin-mix type character with super-powers seeking revenge by fighting fire with fire in a desolate evil land has a certain appeal, but by putting that concept into Tolkien's Middle-earth all that appeal is gone in a *woosh*, at least as far as I'm concerned.

The game idea is fine, but they're only using Middle Earth to get more people on board.

This has nothing to do whatsoever with Tolkien's lore. It's an abomination.

The game looks cool and if it wasn't set in Tolkien's world I wouldn't have an issue with it.

But them using Middle Earth in such an obvious cash grabbing way disgusts me.

Unless Tolkien comes back from the dead to sue them, there's nothing that's going to change.

Just imagine what will happen to the Star Wars franchise as soon as Lucas bites it. THAT's going to be one hell of a cluster****!

Star Wars became a clusterfuck even under Lucas. The Ewoks began the downward spiral.

Wait for it. We'll have Ewok Sith Grandlord Cuddles threaten the galaxy in Star Wars' newest Rated T action anime four months after Lucas died.

I actually liked what I saw and it does sound pretty interesting. Hope the story's engaging, too.

Jar Jar

Midichlorians

Yeah.

What -WILL- happen...

Thinking the current state of Star Wars is the worst it can get is borderline naive.

If there's one thing you should never ever underestimate, it's the creativity of those people who will pervert anything and everything just to cash in some more. Chewbacca dildos? Some Star Wars geek discovers a new bacteria and names it Midichlorians? Wait for the Jedi Yoghurt, with real Midichlorians.

It WILL happen.

(okay, I'm pretty sure we already have Chewbacca dildos, though mostly because Lucas already put others in charge of the merchandising)

Does Lucas biting it really make a difference? Star Wars has already been sold to Disney. They can do what they will with the franchise. Hell, they already removed everything from canon except for the original six films.

So, the wraith was the smith who forged the Rings of Power?

Yup, apparently he's Celebrimbor.

I love how this game is going to great lengths to flesh out certain parts of Tolkien's lore.

Still so much potential...

I'm still excited for this game, but I'm still hoping none of it's made canon to the franchise. A wraith-human-warrior-invincible-badass thing is fine, even if we fight and defeat Sauron. But it should be handled like Star Wars handled Force Unleashed, a what-if story with no impact on actual canon. One thing I do like though is that even if it's basically Assassin's Creed, it looks a lot harder in terms of combat, and a lot bigger in its world exploration.

To be fair, Lucas did claim that TFU was the canon story to how the rebellion started. Then Disney came in and fixed that for us all only to say that the rebellion started because of the Star Wars: Rebels show...
