You suggest removing the word?

Yes. Applying your own preconceptions to the results of a poll would bring the results validity into question

Thanks for the feedback. Edited. Will check back tomorrow :)

so Yes it wont be the same but No it wont be worse. It wont be the same because I've been Shepard for 3 games and I'll miss her but it wont be worse. The Mass Effect Universe is huge and I'm looking forward to experiencing other peoples stories in it.

 I say no.
MEU is perfectly fine as long as it retains the atmosphere of ME1-3 (although I liked ME2's atmosphere the most)

Shepard was my player proxy but character writing has taken such a big step in the right direction generally with games lately, so I think it's just about time we get a more emotive character, and kudos to Mark Meer, but I want another guy soon who sounds less hunky.

Yes.

But it depends on what you consider Shepard. Or N7.

If we are talking about a MEU where Shepard never existed (a true alternate universe), then the answer is yes, it is not the same.

If we are talking about a MEU where Shepard existed/will exist, but is not present for the player as anything more than a codex entry, then the answer is no, it will still be the same MEU to me.

Yes and no.

While I enjoyed playing the role, and the interactions that came with it, Shepard's personality for the most part was only as interesting as the other characters and situations that he/she was playing off of.

So while Shepard's position and iconic status helped define the tone of the story, I don't see the protagonist's position as totally irreplaceable.

No.  Shepard was Mass effect, without Shepard it's just another B movie.

Not sure what you mean by the question, so:
1. If you mean Shepard not mentioned at all during next game -> No, not the same.
2. Mentioned (however he may not appear) -> "the same".

I say NO.

Shepard is just a hero in this Mass Effect Universe. MEU has many heroes. Saying yes is like saying Obama is America (since he is arguably the most known character in America today) and without Obama it is no longer America.

You BSNers need to move on. There is only so many times Shepard can die or get close enough to it.

It seems like you misunderstand the question. You say no, as in you feel like it will be the same without Shepard.

Saying no, removes the "not" in "Will you feel, that the Mass Effect Universe, without Shepard, is not the same anymore?"

No.

Not a good way of asking a question by the way.

"Will you feel, that the Mass Effect Universe, without Shepard, is not the same anymore?"

Firstly it is a negative, so you have confused some people straight away like...

It is clear from the explanation that Greetsme meant "YES, it will not be the same anymore."

However what people answer will be wildly open to their own interpretation of your question.

Personally I am completely convinced that stories can be told in the Mass Effect universe without Shepard and still feel like Mass Effect. Will it be exactly the same? Of course not, it wouldn't be exactly the same with Shepard either. I don't even consider Shepard a particularly important part of the lore.

The double-negative question is kinda confusing me (I know what the question is asking, but I don't know if me saying no is really correct for me), so I'll just spell out my answer:

If Shepard is not in the next game, it can still feel like Mass Effect.

Not sure if that is a yes or no to the question

The game would be different but the universe is pretty uninterested in individuals, though that wasn't the question. :P

The galaxy is more than fleshed out enough to be the star. Mass Effect does not mean Shepard to me, it means Quarians, Krogans, Asari, Turians, those signature weapon designs, and the unending questions and morality surrounding artificial intelligence.

Possibly also the Normandy ;)

I believe that Mass Effect, as a whole, will feel different, although in no way necessarily worse, but the Mass Effect universe will not.

Yes I want Shepard back so there could be some resolution to the cliff hanger in Mass Effect 3.
